Senior BJP leader and former Chief Executive Councillor of Delhi, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, cremated with full state honours

His last rites were performed in the presence of the Chief Minister and Delhi BJP President with full state honours.
 
From 12 PM to 3 PM, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra’s body was kept at the Delhi BJP headquarters, where thousands of party workers paid their last respects.
 
In their final tribute, Dr. Alka Gurjar, Rekha Gupta, and Virendra Sachdeva have said – “We will always remember your guidance during every challenging time faced by the organisation.”
 
The last rites of Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, founding member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and former Chief Executive Councillor of Delhi, were performed today at Lodhi Road crematorium.
 
In a joint condolence message, Delhi BJP Co-incharge Dr. Alka Gurjar, Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta, and Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva said,
“Your guidance during every difficult time faced by the organisation will always be remembered.”
 
Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who played a key role in establishing a strong political foundation for both Jana Sangh and BJP in Delhi, passed away yesterday morning, Tuesday, 30th September, during treatment at AIIMS hospital.
 
Today, with full state honours provided by the Delhi Government and Delhi Police, his son Shri Ajay Malhotra performed the last rites, committing the mortal body to the five elements (Panch Tatva).
 
Upon arrival of Shri Malhotra’s dead body at the Lodhi Road crematorium, the Delhi Police battalion paid final tribute with state honours in the presence of Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta, which included a bugle salute, reverse arms, and a ceremonial gunfire.
 
Prior to the cremation, the body of Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra was kept for public tributes in the auditorium of Delhi BJP headquarters at 14, Pandit Pant Marg, from 12 noon to 3 PM. Thousands of BJP workers from various parts of Delhi, along with dignitaries, citizens, and officials from sports organisations, paid floral tributes to Prof. Malhotra, who also served twice as President of the All India Council of Sports.
 
Present at the cremation ground alongside the Chief Minister were Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, Union Minister of State Shri Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Ministers Shri Pravesh Sahib Singh and Shri Ashish Sood, MPs Shri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, MLAs Shri Neeraj Basoya and Shri Anil Sharma, DDA member Shri Rajeev Babbar, as well as several state and district BJP office bearers. Prominent figures from the sports fraternity including Sardar Tarlochan Singh and Shri Lalit Bhanot were also present.
 
At the BJP headquarters, where the mortal remains were kept, thousands of party workers from district and mandal levels paid their final respects.
