NDMC makes a world record of 10 Km long live canvass painting by more than 35,000 artists and students at a time,

NDMC organizes a mega art event on theme of “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” under Sewa Parv. 

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has made a world record of 10 Km long live canvass painting by more than 35,000 artists and students at a time  in a mega art event on theme of “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” under Sewa Parv. This event was organized by NDMC in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University at Karvtavya Path Lawn, New Delhi, today. 

The event was graced by Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways of India, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture & Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of India, Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Union Minister of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi – Smt. Rekha Gupta. Hon’ble Delhi PWD Minister, Shri Parvesh Verma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (New Delhi), Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (North East Delhi), Shri Manoj Tiwari, Chairman NDMC – Shri Keshav Chandra, Vice Chairman NDMC – Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Member NDMC – Shri Anil Valmiki, Smt. Sarita Tomar & Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh along with Secretary NDMC – Shri Tariq Thomas. 

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister, Shri Kiren Rijiju said that today's vision of duty was beyond imagination, where thousands of youth came together to paint the colours of a developed India on a 10 km long canvas. The enthusiasm of all the artists and students was amazing and they never tired of painting the developed India of their dreams. While presenting this wonderful initiative of NDMC towards art, he said that this is a unique art festival of youth during Modi ji's birthday fortnight festival.

 


In his address, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, stated that this event is a historic moment of creative art, where thousands of young people have simultaneously created a 10-kilometer-long canvas, imagining the India of their dreams, by coloring it. The spirit of creativity among the youth was evident here. This event is even more significant as it is held during the Seva Parv, when the Hon’ble Prime Minister's birthday falls during this fortnight, as well as the birthdays of eminent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. He stated that the theme of this event is very important, as it not only attempts to express a developed India through colours but also brings life through colours. He said that this event is not limited to a record but it is also an effort to strengthen the resolve for the future and move forward towards it, so that India can become developed.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways of India, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” under Sewa Parv is not being organized only in Delhi, but across the entire nation — in every state, every district and every village. He added that the successful participation from across India, with more than 35,000 artists coming together on one platform, is a symbol of unity and a historic tribute to make the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s birthday truly memorable.

Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, appreciated the efforts of Team NDMC for organizing such a grand event, where artists from all over India came together on one platform to showcase their creativity and talent so beautifully.

On this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta said that this is the first time such an event has been organized in the national capital, Delhi, where thousands of renowned artists and students, from various states across India, have painted together on a 10-kilometer-long canvas. Today, in the capital, the thoughts and dreams of various young people have been brought together on canvas with diverse colors, representing a remarkable creative confluence. This art festival is a part of the Sewa Parv on the occasion of Hon’ble Prime Minister's birthday, reminds us of our duties and inspires us to fulfill them with responsibility. If we will work together to fulfill our duties one by one, only then we would be able to make our country a developed nation. She said that this artistic gift from the NDMC to Modi Ji under the Sewa Parv is very special.


On the occasion, Vice Chairman, NDMC - Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal informed that keeping in mind the 75 years of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi—“Seva hi Sankalp hai, Bharat Pratham Prerna hai”—the NDMC is organizing a series of programs under Seva Parv from September 17 to October 2, 2025. As part of this series, this grand art event “Viksit Bharat ke Rang, Kala ke Sang” was organized today in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University. 

Shri Chahal also informed that today is a historic day when all previous records of live painting has been broken. He further added that this nationwide movement has seen participation from every state, every district and every village. The record for the “most artists contributing to the same painting simultaneously” was stood at 5,084 artists, achieved by Fundación Olga Sinclair in Panama in 2014 for a painting created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal. Today the NDMC has surpassed this record and has set a new world record by creating a 10 km long live canvas painting at the lawns of Kartavya Path, New Delhi by more than 35,000 participants.

Shri Chahal extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awardees, eminent and senior artists, as well as institutions like Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University, whose invaluable support and participation played a pivotal role in making this historic event a grand success.

In this mega art event, prominent and Padma Awardee artists also participated including Shri Jatin Das (Delhi), Shri Biman B. Bas (Delhi), Shri Adwaita Gadanayak (Odisha), Shri Jai Prakash (Delhi), Shri Ram Kishan Chhipa (Rajasthan), Smt. Shanti Devi (Bihar), Shri Paresh Rathwa (Gujarat), Shri Kalyan Joshi (Rajasthan), Shri Nirmal Soni, Shri Lokesh Joshi, Shri Ayush Chhipawal, Shri Lavish Joshi, and many others. The dignitaries also felicitated on the stage these artists for their contribution in the field of various types of arts.
