A DRUG PEDDLER ARRESTED BY TEAM ER-II, CRIME BRANCH

A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him in FIR No. 130/24 under Sections 21/25/29 of the NDPS Act, registered at PS-Crime Branch, Delhi.

INTRODUCTION

Demonstrating a high level of responsibility and dedication, the ER-II unit of the Crime Branch has successfully apprehended a notorious criminal, Shakeel s/o Liyakat Ali, who was wanted in NDPS Act case and has been involved in multiple cases of drug peddling, robbery, and snatching.

CASE BACKGROUND

On June 23, 2024, an accused, Mannan s/o Nafees, was apprehended with the recovery of 272 grams of smack. Consequently, FIR No. 130/24 dated June 24, 2024, under Sections 21/25 of the NDPS Act, was registered. During the investigation, based on Mannan’s disclosure, another accused, Mohd. Shakeel s/o Liyakat Ali, was arrested from DLF, Bhopra. At his instance, 18 grams of smack were recovered. The case is currently pending trial.

TEAM & OPERATION

Acting on specific intelligence received by HC Rajeev, a dedicated team comprising SI Shailendra Tiwari, HC Rajeev, HC Mohit, and HC Prince, under the supervision of Inspector Ashish Dahima and the overall supervision of ACP Yashpal Singh, ER-II, conducted a focused operation.

On July 15, 2025, the team successfully apprehended Shakeel s/o Liyakat Ali, a resident of Bhopra, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). The accused has a long-standing criminal history and has been involved in six previous cases related to drug peddling, robbery, and snatching.

After securing bail in earlier cases, he consistently evaded judicial proceedings by frequently changing his location, making it difficult for law enforcement agencies to trace him. Due to his continued evasion, Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) had been issued against him in FIR No. 130/24 under Sections 21/25/29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Crime Branch, Delhi.
