Mustafa R/o Jahangir Puri Delhi Age -22 Years. Both were found to be involved in several cases of Day Burglary, phone theft & other similar offences.
They both have been apprehended/arrested vide DD No. 25A, under Section 35(1)(c) & 106 BNSS, by a dedicated team of Northern Range-I, Crime Branch.
TEAM AND OPERATION:
The Gang has been busted by a dedicated team of the Crime Branch, comprising of SI Ajit, SI Hitesh, SI Manish Kumar, SI Rajesh, SI Prem, ASI Premvir, HC Mandeep, HC Akash, HC Narender, HC Dinesh Rana, W/HC Kusum, and Ct Ankush. This operation was led by Inspector Ajay Sharma and Inspector Ajay Gahlawat, under the overall supervision of ACP Ashok Sharma NR-I, Crime Branch, Prashant Vihar, Delhi.
It has been observed that during extreme weather conditions, such as heatwaves in summer there is often a noticeable spike in incidents of house burglaries. During this period, residents frequently remain away from their homes, either due to travel or work, leaving their houses locked and vulnerable. Criminal elements and organized burglary gangs tend to exploit these conditions by specifically targeting such unattended homes. They typically decamp with valuable items such as jewellery, watches and other expensive articles.
Recognizing this emerging pattern, senior officers of the Delhi Police Crime Branch issued timely directives to develop strategies focused on preventing and detecting day-time house thefts. As part of this initiative, the field units were mobilized, and staff was motivated to proactively gather intelligence on suspects and emerging gangs involved in such activities.
Ct Ankush, an active and resourceful team member of the Crime Branch, known for his local intelligence network in Jahangir puri and surrounding areas, was specially tasked to gather inputs and develop actionable information on day burglars operating in Delhi.
Ct Ankush took the task as challenge and started developing intelligence on Gangs/criminals involved in house theft and burglary. Rather than focusing only on previously arrested criminals, Ct Ankush adopted a forward-looking approach, identifying new suspects with unexplained wealth and unusual suspected behavior. An emerging group of 5–6 young individuals was flagged for surveillance. Despite no lengthy criminal records, they lived lavishly and operated across South Delhi and neighboring areas with agility. This gang used lesser-known faces to avoid police suspicion and frequently changed locations after each burglary.
APPREHENSION, ARREST & INTERROGATION
On receiving a specific input, the team conducted a raid and successfully apprehended two of the members of the group from the area of sector 10/11 Rohini near Japanese Park, Delhi. On interrogation they revealed that they were planning to go for another day burglary with the senior gang member Bappi who did not turn up after their apprehension/arrest. From the possession of Aftab @ Sukha, house breaking implements and from the possession of CCL, 5 stolen phones have been recovered.
