Paid tribute to martyred police personnel at National Police Memorial.

           Delhi Police today, organised a commemorative event at National Police Memorial, Chanakyapuri to honour the police martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the nation. Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Senior Officers paid homage to martyrs by laying wreaths at the Central Sculpture of the memorial.

                 Every year on 21st October, Police Commemoration Day is observed to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and commitment of the police forces. It is a day to mark the ultimate sacrifices made by our policemen in the line of duty. The main function is organised at National Police Memorial on 21st October and ssubsequently, CAPFs/CPOs are entrusted one day each to organise various Commemorative Events at National Police Memorial from October 22 to 30 and Delhi Police was assigned to conduct the programmes/events on 24.10.2024. A series of events on the occasion of All India Police Commemoration day are also being held from 22.10.2024 to 30.10.2024 in districts and units of Delhi Police. 

                The day started with ‘Run for Martyrs’, a symbolic run to pay homage to the martyrs. CP Delhi and Senior Officers participated in ‘Run for Martyrs’ which started from Nehru Park and reached National Police Memorial to pay floral tributes.  Subsequently the family members of the Delhi Police martyrs and serving personnel paid visit to National Police Memorial and offered floral tributes to the martyrs at Central Sculpture. A video display highlighting the sacrifice, valour, brave acts of the police personnel was also arranged for the families at the theatre of National Police Memorial. They also visited the museum, and paid homage at the Wall of Valour, which bears names of police personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. Delhi Police expressed gratitude by honouring courageous families of Delhi Police martyrs (2023-24). 

             In the evening Sh.Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Senior Officers visited the National Police Memorial with their spouses. The CP Delhi paid homage to martyrs by laying wreath at the memorial, followed by wreath laying by Senior Officers and floral tributes by spouses of the officers. This was followed by screening of a movie on valour and sacrifice of Delhi Police personnel and band display by Delhi Police Brass Band & Delhi Police Women Pipe Band. Beating the retreat ceremony marked the conclusion of today’s commemorative event.
