New Delhi: The grand event of the 10th edition of Yamuna Trophy-2024-25 organized for the cleanliness of Yamuna Maiyya under the joint aegis of Indian Development for Human Care, and Rajiv Nishana, President of Indian Media Welfare Association, started with great pomp at CWG Ground, Akshardham, Delhi. The first match was played between the Delhi Police Officers XI and DDA Officers XI. Delhi Police Officers XI captain Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and DDA Officers XI captain DDA Vice Chairman Shubhashish Panda along with retired Allahabad High Court judge and currently judicial member of NGT Justice Sudhir Agarwal inaugurated the match by tossing the toss. DDA Officers XI won the toss and decided to bat first. DDA Officers XI scored 143 runs by losing 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Delhi Police Officers XI scored a total of 128 runs in 19.5 overs. Thus DDA Officers XI won the match by 15 runs.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora did excellent fielding, while Nirav Patel won the title of best fielder. Additional DCP Dipendra scored the highest runs from Delhi Police with 22 runs and also took 4 wickets from the opponent DDA. Vice Chairman of DDA Shubhashish Panda started the innings, while Arun Dabas played a quick unbeaten innings of 57 runs in 31 balls and also dismissed a player. Man of the Match went to Arun Dabas of DDA Officers XI. On this occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora said that the work of cleaning the Yamuna should be understood by every citizen so that the pollution in the Yamuna can be stopped. He said that along with sports, we all have to take a pledge for the cleanliness of Yamuna Maiyya. Vice Chairman of DDA Shubhashish Panda said that our department is committed to the cleaning of Yamuna, and from time to time we are playing a leading role in making the ghats clean. Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K. Saxena Sahib himself has started a campaign for the cleanliness of Yamuna. Chief guest Sudhir Agarwal said that being a judicial member of NGT, it is our duty along with all the government agencies, RWA, and social religious organizations, IMWA will also have to come forward in partnership in cleaning the Yamuna river. He congratulated Rajiv Nishana and his team on starting the 10th edition of the Yamuna Trophy. On this occasion, Acharya Shri Vikramaditya, Lalit Vats, Jogendra Solanki, Ajay Kaul, Vijay Sharma, Ravindra Kumar, Praveen Agarwal, Vikas Jain, Anurag Singh, Neeraj Jain, Arun Nishana, Atul Garg, Sanjay Jain, Mahesh Dhoundiyal, Mrs Sushma Rajiv Nishana, Nisar, Jesar, Reshma Afridi, Urmila Pandit etc. were mainly present on behalf of the organizers.
