Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) held a meeting with the officials of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha of Haryana, Himachal, Punjab and Delhi-NCR at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi on Friday and got information about the issues and problems related to ex-servicemen. It is worth noting that Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) is also the Chief Patron of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha.
On this occasion, the Governor said that our ex-servicemen continue to work with full devotion even after retirement in the works of society and public interest on the basis of training received in the army and experiences of their service period. He said that all the ex-servicemen and all the workers associated with Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha are my extended family. Whatever suggestions have come during our discussion today, appropriate action will be taken by taking them to the competent level. He further said that in this meeting today, everyone also gave suggestions on internal security, which shows that a soldier remains continuously concerned about the sovereignty of the country even after retirement.
On this occasion, the Governor said that I have personally visited the training centers of Agniveers being trained under the Agneepath scheme, and I can say that the training of Agniveers and their ability is of the highest level. He said that this scheme is important for nation building and national security, this scheme will increase the representation of youth in the armed forces as well as infuse youth energy in the army.
On this occasion, the President of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Colonel T P Tyagi (Retd.) informed that at present the members of the Sanstha are active in almost all the provinces and they are also organizing training camps at various levels to inculcate character building and national unity in the students. Senior retired officers of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, among others, were present in this meeting.
