Training workshop organized at Prestige Management and Research Institute Gwalior

A workshop on women empowerment and self-defense was organized at Prestige Management and Research Institute in Gwalior on 26.06.2024.

The main objective of this program was to motivate women for empowerment and self-defense.

Director of the Institute, Dr. Nishant Joshi said that women empowerment and self-defense is an appropriate way to promote autonomy, self-confidence and security among women, which not only achieves the goal of self-defense and empowerment, but women empowerment and self-defense go hand in hand. Empowerment also promotes women’s ability to make decisions, access resources and fully participate in social, economic and political spheres.

Co-Director of the Institute, Dr. Tarika Singh Sikarwar said that empowerment through education and economic opportunities enables women to claim their rights and make meaningful contributions to their communities. When women are empowered, they are more likely to advocate for gender equality, challenge discriminatory norms, and participate in decision-making responses that affect their lives.

The keynote speaker of this program, Ms. Divya Kushwaha (Coach, Khelo India University Games, Gold Medalist) while addressing the students said that self-defense training provides women with mental and physical strength in critical situations and awareness about personal limitations. Empowerment and self-defense provide the basis for women to live their lives with respect, security and freedom.

This program was organized by Internal Complaint Committee Chairperson Dr. Tarika Singh Sikarwar and the coordinator of this program, Assistant Professor Smriti Bhadauria and other members. She told that 150 students of the institute were present in this program and she told that the students were taught self-defense techniques by Divya Kushwaha.
