Take strict action against those adulterating food items: Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana

Indore GeetkarDamodar Virmal Chief Secretary Mrs. Veera Rana gave strict instructions regarding adulteration in food items. Chief Secretary Mrs. Veera Rana held a review meeting with all the Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors of the state regarding adulteration in food items through video conference on Thursday. Mrs. Rana gave instructions for regular testing of food items as per the Government of India and State Surveillance Plan and based on that, identification of adulterated areas and effective implementation.

Mrs. Rana said that at the district level, special monitoring teams consisting of departments like food safety, weighing, milk union and police etc. should be formed to monitor the quality of food items. To monitor the quality of milk and various food products made from milk, regular testing of samples should be done through mobile laboratories at milk centers, chilling plants and collection centers located in the districts. He also directed to make special efforts to increase the number of licenses and registrations in proportion to the population in the districts. Senior officials of Food, Home and Police departments were present in the meeting.
