Poor condition of the Akot-Lohari Road: Villagers lodge at the Akot Tehsil Office

Akola Villagers staged a sit-in protest at the Akot Tehsil office today against the shoddy work on the Akot-Lohari road in the district.

The villagers had brought asphalt and ballast from the constructed road as proof of the shoddy work being done. A fund of lakhs has been sanctioned for the five-and-a-half-kilometer road, but the villagers alleged that the same materials used in this work are of inferior quality.

The protestors alleged that the work will be of short duration as the amount of asphalt being used is less than the use of murum mixed ballast instead of black ballast. Due to this, the citizens took to the streets. The public works engineers of Akot were also informed earlier. Even after that, there was no improvement in the work. The villagers protested on the streets and brought this matter to their attention.

Taking cognizance of this protest, the protest was withdrawn after the construction department promised to start the excellent work on the said road in three days. At this time, the villagers warned of intense agitation if quality work was not started.
