Rajesh Kumar Verma | Jaipur | Villagers boycotted voting in Baran Devpuriya village of Rajasthan. Not a single vote was cast at the booths here. On receiving the information, the administrative officials consulted with the villagers, but they remained adamant on the demand. Villagers say that not a single vote will be cast until the road is built. The voters, upset with the road not being constructed in the village even after 75 years of independence, had announced a voting boycott even before the assembly elections.

There are 400 voters in the village : Polling stations remained deserted.

Administration reached, attempt failed :

Naib Tehsildar Trilok Chandra Sharma, Police Officer Harlal Meena, Patwari Pushpa Chaudhary, Pooja Mishra reached the spot and tried to reason with the villagers but all efforts went in vain.
Similarly, in Balwanta village of Danta Gram Panchayat of Ajmer district of Rajasthan, out of total 2235 voters, only 37 votes were cast for the demand of drinking water. Here also all the efforts of police and administration failed.
