A reunion gathering was organized by the alumni (1992 batch) of the School of Botany at Jiwaji University on Friday under the chief hospitality of Prof. Avinash Tiwari.
Most of the students of the batch were present in this program organized in the guest house of the university, who are currently serving in government and private sectors outside Madhya Pradesh. Prof. Avinash Tiwari, along with the former students, narrated the memories of about 31 years ago when the Botanical Department, Panchmarhi, had gone to Satpura, Bhedaghat.
During the program, the present head of the department of study, Prof. Mahendra Kumar Gupta, and the then teachers were also honored. Prof. RKS Chauhan, Prof. Shashi Chauhan, Prof. KK Kaul, and Prof. AK Jain addressed the alumni and refreshed their old memories. Among the alumni are Dr. Ritu Dixit from Mumbai, Ashwini Sharma from Himachal Pradesh, and Kota from Rajasthan.
KC Sharma, Jaswinder, and Amarjeet from Punjab, as well as local students Anil Jha, Chitra Navrange, Bhanu Saxena, Gopal Mishra, etc., were present with their families. Everyone visited their botany study school. Prof.Y. Everyone was happy to see the D. Tyagi Botanical Garden, class room, seminar hall, and newly established laboratories.
Alumnus KC Sharma said that it is because of SOS Botany that we are what we are today; the values of SOS Botany are embedded in each of our cells. Ashwini Sharma of Himachal Pradesh narrated the memories of the old teachers of the class and made everyone laugh. In this event, Dr. Shivendra Singh Rathore, a senior student of the batch and former executive council member of JU, was also present. All the teachers were presented with garlands and turbans by the former students. Respectfully honored. Prof. Tiwari finally said that such events should be organized on a large scale.
