  • Tata Mumbai Marathon opens registrations for its historic 20th edition
  • The change began here; redefined the country’s sporting landscape and brought a positive socioeconomic impact.

The Tata Mumbai Marathon was inaugurated 20 years ago in 2004. Since the beginning of its impressive journey, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has ushered in a change that has redefined the sporting landscape in India. This race revolution has re-ignited the power of participatory sport and embodied the pulse of Mumbai. No matter the circumstances, it is a movement that brings us together…

The 20th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon will be held on Sunday, 19 January 2025 and will be flagged off from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Procam International, the promoter of Asia’s most prestigious marathon, today announced that registration for the event will open on 14th August 2024 at 7 AM and interested parties can register themselves by visiting www.tatamumbaimarathon.procam.in.

Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Maharashtra said, “I still remember the moment when the Tata Mumbai Marathon was launched 20 years ago. Though it had a shaky beginning, thanks to the love and support shown by the people of Mumbai, the Government and other stakeholders, it has now come a long way and has become a celebration of the city of Mumbai. It is a truly endearing and resilient symbol that reflects the vibrant spirit of our city. Thus, even in 2008, when the city was gripped by massive terror attacks, it was the ethos of “never back down” that won out in the end. Millions of people from all backgrounds and walks of life came to cheer on the runners, a true ocean of humanity, standing united to celebrate sports beyond religion, caste, age, gender and creed.”

The success of the Tata Mumbai Marathon did not happen in a vacuum. Credit must go to the people of Mumbai, the innumerable sponsors and other key stakeholders including the MCGM and Mumbai Police for making this marathon truly unprecedented and iconic. And the transformational impact it has achieved cannot be overlooked, with hundreds of crores of rupees raised for countless charities.

Shri Rahul Narvekar, Hon’ble Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly said, “It is a truly joyous and proud moment for me to be here every year to participate in an event that epitomises the relentless spirit of Mumbai. The Tata Mumbai Marathon is not only iconic; it also perfectly encapsulates the spirit of a unified India and the transformative power of our diversity, making it a landmark occasion and one that everyone truly follows. It also adds an extra layer of interest to our city, which has long been defined in so many ways by brilliantly capturing the unique dynamism and vibrancy of India’s financial capital. On that note, I would like to congratulate Procam for doing us proud by hosting this event for over two decades. I extend a warm welcome to all stakeholders who will visit my constituency, Colaba, on January 19, 2025. We pledge to extend all possible support to make this event a success.
