Gulshan Paruthi – Gwalior
Legal literacy camp was organized in Central Jail Gwalior and legal information was given to the prisoners.
Prison is not a place to suffer sins but a place to atone for the crime, here the prisoners can atone for the crime by maintaining strong willpower. In the eyes of the law, no person is a born criminal. The circumstances at the time of the crime, anger, company, intoxication, etc. can also be the reason for this. Plea bargaining provided in the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023 is a good option to atone for the crime in cases punishable with less than 7 years of sentence (except exceptional cases). Through this, the punishment of the criminal can be reduced. Every prisoner can present his side before the court through a lawyer during the trial. This was said by Mr. Ashish Dwande, District Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gwalior as the Chief Guest in the Legal Literacy Camp organized in Central Jail Gwalior on the orders of Principal District Judge Mr. PC Gupta.

In the program, District Legal Aid Officer Mr. Deepak Sharma provided information about the Supreme Court’s instructions regarding undertrial prisoners and information about plea bargaining. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Council Mr. Praveen Mittal informed about the free and competent legal aid available to the prisoners and provided detailed information about the Legal Aid Defense Council System.
The program was conducted by District Legal Aid Officer Mr. Deepak Sharma and Assistant Jail Superintendent Mr. Praveen Tripathi gave the vote of thanks. On this occasion, Jail Superintendent Mr. Vidit Sirvaiya, Senior Jail Deputy Superintendent Mr. Ram Gopal Pal, Assistant Jail Superintendent Mr. Vipin Dandotiya and prisoners were present.
