Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the production of tur should be encouraged in the state. Increasing the area of ​​​​kodo-kutki will balance the use of water and electricity and will also improve the crop cycle. Therefore, there is a need to motivate farmers to take kodo-kutki crop. It is also important to make farmers aware of the negative impact of taking summer crops on the crop cycle. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a meeting organized in the ministry on the efforts being made for reviewed agricultural beneficiary schemes, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Aidal Singh Kanshana, Chief Secretary Mrs. Veera Rana were present in the meeting.

The concerned secretary will be held responsible if any irregularities are found in the Krishi Upaj Mandi

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to keep the system of Krishi Upaj Mandis in order, senior officers should conduct surprise inspections of the weighing scales, financial transactions and other arrangements of the Mandis. It should be ensured that the interests of the farmers are not tampered with anywhere and the trust of the farmers towards the Mandi system remains intact. The Collector should also monitor the operation of the Krishi Upaj Mandi. If any irregularities are found in the Krishi Upaj Mandi anywhere, the concerned secretary will be held responsible, strict action will be taken against them. He directed to make necessary amendments to ensure the interests of the farmers in the provisions of warehouse construction and use.

Marginal and small farmers should get benefits from Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state is endowed with diverse patterns of climatic conditions, soil and crops. Due to the tireless hard work of our farmer brothers, the state is paramount in agricultural development. Our state ranks first in the country in the area and production of pulses and oilseeds. We are constantly working towards increasing the income of farmers and making agriculture a profitable business. Necessary corrective measures should be taken to ensure that maximum marginal and small farmers get benefit from the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. Every possible effort should be made to increase the production of nutritious Srianna under the Rani Durgavati Srianna Protsahan Yojana and to encourage the farmers producing it.

Encourage crop diversification

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that crop diversification should be encouraged to take other profitable crops instead of paddy and wheat. Such crops should be promoted which are not dependent on government procurement and whose price is linked to the market and export demand. He pointed out the need to promote organic fertilizers in place of chemical fertilizers and directed to present an action plan related to expanding natural farming in all areas of the state.

More than 25 lakh farmers benefited in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

More than 25 lakh farmers have benefited in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the year 2023-24. Insurance claims are also being paid promptly. 25 lakh 61 thousand farmers have benefited in Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana, 9 lakh 21 thousand in Free Electricity Supply Scheme and more than 80 lakh farmers have benefited in Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana. In the Rani Durgavati Shrianna Protsahan Yojana, 1166 quintals of certified seeds of Kodo-Kutki, Ragi and Jowar were distributed in the State Millet Mission in the year 2024-25. Additional incentive amount is being provided to the farmers at the rate of one thousand rupees per quintal on Kodo-Kutki.

Subsidy payment to farmers is being done through pre-paid voucher e-Rupi

Positive results are being obtained in ethanol production in crop diversification, organic production of crops-vegetables-spices etc. and production of Ashwagandha. The implementation of subsidy payment to farmers is being done through pre-paid voucher e-Rupi. Out of 5 thousand new custom hiring centers to be built in the state with the aim of providing agricultural equipment to farmers at cheap prices, 3 thousand 964 centers have been established. Information regarding achievements in other beneficiary schemes run by the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department was also given. Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Agriculture Production Commissioner Mr. S.N. Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Farmer Welfare Mr. Ashok Barnwal, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Manish Singh and other officers were present in the meeting.
