Decision taken to stage a sit-in at the block office on August 14.

To get Bihar the status of a special state, the Congress party started a phased movement on Monday with a press conference program. Under the state level press conference program, District President Amresh Kumar Aneesh organized a press conference program in the district office located in Purani Bazar KSS College of the city in the local Lakhisarai district. Aneesh said that on Wednesday, August 14, Congress workers will protest against the government at all the block headquarters of the district demanding special state status. After this, a sit-in program will be organized at the district level. After the sit-in at the state level, a memorandum will be submitted to the Governor. Our protest will continue until we get special state status or assurance. One more thing to understand is that when Bihar’s overall 22nd position in the country was shown in the Expert Index released by Niti Aayog, it became clear that Bihar must get the status of a special state. In 2013, the Raghuram Rajan committee constituted by the Centre had placed Bihar in the least developed category.

In the 2015 election rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to give Bihar the status of a special state. But even after 10 years, it was not fulfilled. In the same 2015 election rally, Narendra Modi had announced to give Bihar a special package of Rs. 1.25 lakh crore along with the status of a special state, but that too was not given.
