Food Department raided illegally operated petrol pump, seized 22173 liters of adulterated diesel from the spot

Indore Geetkar Damodar Virmal The investigation team of the Food Department today raided an illegally operating petrol pump at the garage of New Shalimar Roadways located in Pathar Mundla of Indore district. During investigation, an illegal diesel dispensing unit and an underground tank for illegal diesel storage were found installed inside the garage premises. During investigation, 22173 liters of adulterated diesel was found stored inside the tank, which is poured into various vehicles by the dispensing unit.

Proprietor of the said firm, Ashish Kalra, resident of Jhalaria Contiwalk, Indore was found present on the spot, he operates the pump. Dry grass was found all around the underground tank which poses a risk of fire, but no fire extinguisher was found on the pump. No explosive license or any other valid document was found available with the proprietor of the pump. The investigation team seized 22173 liters of adulterated diesel stored in the tank on the spot due to illegal collection of inflammable substance, illegal pumps and adulterated diesel. The estimated market price of the seized diesel has been estimated at Rs 20 lakh 81 thousand 157. Since the pump was found to be operating without any valid permission, the pump was sealed and a case was registered against the pump proprietor Ashish Kalra under the Essential Commodities Act.
