MP Bhavana Gawli Faces Income Tax Probe Over Alleged Rs 19 Crore Misappropriation

Akola (Zafar Khan): The Income Tax Department has issued a notice in regarding of Mahila Utkarsh Pratisthan Sanstha of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction’s Yavatmal-Washim MP Bhavana Gawli. A letter was sent today to Bhavna Gawli to give clarification to the Income Tax Department in Akola. Accordingly, an account of cash amounting to Rs 26 crore was sought from Bhavana Gawli.

Bhavana Gawli’s representatives have given their clarification in this regard at the Income Tax Department office in Akola today. But what he has said in his clarification has not been revealed. The people who came as their representatives left without making any comment to the media.

The Income Tax Department has sent a notice to MP Bhavana Gawli of Yavatmal-Washim parliamentary constituency in a case of financial misappropriation. According to the IT notice, misappropriation of Rs 19 crore has been done at Gawli’s Mahila Utkarsh Pratisthan Institute. It has been said in the notice that they have to respond to the notice by Friday, January 5. Under this, their representatives were present at the Income Tax Department office in Akola today.

On December 29, a notice was issued under Section 131 (1A) of the Income Tax Act, alleging that Shinde Group has embezzled Rs 19 crore from the Mahila Utkarsh Pratisthan Sansthan of Bhavana Gawli, Lok Sabha MP from Yavatmal-Washim seat. . Earlier in 2022, ED sent three notices to Bhavana Gawli in the case of misconduct in the organization.

Earlier, ED action in Degawa

The ED had arrested Gawli’s trust director, Saeed Khan, in an operation in Degaon, Risod, and Washim. Saeed Khan intervened to illegally convert the trust into a company. For that, there were malpractices in the Charity Commissioner’s office as well. He was accused of a scam of Rs 19 crore in all cases. Meanwhile, ED has held Bhavna Gawli responsible for this scam as well as the embezzlement of Rs 7 crore in cash.

After the ED notice, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya targeted Gawli. He asked where Gawli got so much money from and demanded an investigation into Gawli. After this, ED started an investigation and registered a case against Gawli and Saeed. However, Gawli did not appear before the ED for questioning, despite sending three notices. Bhavana Gawli started the foundation on November 27, 1998, with the aim of training women and youth. She is the chairperson of the foundation.
