The third Delhi Premier League (football) will be played from 26th September at Ambedkar Stadium ground in which top 12 clubs of the capital will participate. This announcement was made by DSA President Anuj Gupta in a press conference held at Press Club here today. On this occasion, DSA treasurer Liaquat Ali, League Sub Committee Chairman Vikramjit, Convenor Hargopal, members Hafiz and Rajesh Jhajria were also present.
According to Anuj, defending champion Garhwal Heroes, runner-up Royal Rangers, Indian Air Force, Friends United, Vatika FC, Sudeva, Delhi FC, CISF, Tarun Sangha, National United, and Hindustan FC and United India promoted from Senior Division are the participating teams. The matches will be played on double leg basis. Vikramjit said that all preparations have been completed for the proper organization of the matches.
Answering the sharp questions of the reporters, Anuj admitted that there is a great possibility of improvement in the league. Especially, some teams and players are promoting match fixing and betting. Last season, serious action was taken against ten players and more stringent steps will be taken in future. To control the guilty players and teams, a three-member disciplinary committee has been formed, which will keep a strict eye on the activities inside and outside the field.
According to the president, all activities will be captured on camera and no guilty will be forgiven. The help of Delhi Police is being taken to monitor the matches so that match fixing cannot be done. So that the clubs which play with the game will be dealt with strictly.
In response to a question, Anuj told that his aim is to provide maximum jobs to the players. This is possible only when the institutional league is organized on time. Contacting various institutions will be his priority.
