Prestige Management and Research Institute, Gwalior Faculty Development Program organized.

Gulshan Paruthi | Gwalior | Faculty Development Program was organized at Prestige Management and Research Institute, Gwalior on 13 April 2024. The main objective of which was to provide detailed information to the faculty members of the institute on their fundamental rights and democracy. Mayor David Holt Oklahoma (USA) and Dr. Sri Belladonna, Oklahoma (USA) were prominently present in the Faculty Development Programme.

Mayor David Holt resource person for the event, said that fundamental rights are essential freedoms that underpin democracy, ensure the protection of individuals against abuse of power and promote inclusivity and accountability. These rights, such as freedom, equality and expression, are inherent in every individual and provide protection against oppression and discrimination. Without fundamental rights, democracy risks turning into authoritarianism and injustice. Due to which their protection and conservation becomes important for a democratic society.

Dr. Shri Belladonna the second resource person of this program while addressing the faculty members and students, said that faculty and students are an integral part of maintaining fundamental rights and democracy in educational institutions. Faculty members foster an environment of academic freedom and equality while advocating for the rights of students. Meanwhile, students actively participate in the defense of democracy through participation in governance and constructive dialogue. Together, they create a thriving ecosystem where diverse ideas thrive, disagreements are respected and individuals are empowered to make positive contributions to society.

Director of the institute Dr. Nishant Joshi said that in a democratic society, educational institutions work as the foundation stone to promote such an environment. Where fundamental rights are respected, faculty members play an important role in ensuring that this ethos is maintained within the academic framework. Dr. Tarika Singh Sikarwar, Co-Director of the institute, said that the faculty members act as stewards of free speech and expression, which facilitates open dialogue and intellectual debate among the students. They should support diversity of thought and encourage students to explore different viewpoints without fear of censorship or discrimination.

All the faculty members and 250 students of the institute were present during this program.
