Safdarjung Hospital’s PMR Department Hosts Successful Bone Density Camp Under SNSP Abhiyaan

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Department of Safdarjung Hospital successfully conducted a Bone Density Camp as a part of the ongoing Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar (SNSP)Abhiyaan.The camp aimed to raise awareness about osteoporosis, early detection of bone health issues, and empower women and at-risk populations with preventive health strategies.

The event saw large participation, including women and elderly citizens, aligning with SNSP’s goal to promote family health by focusing on mothers and caregivers. Free bone density screenings were provided, along with expert consultations and education on nutrition, physical activity, and osteoporosis prevention.Patients were also given calcium & Vit d medicines.

Alongside the screening, an awareness session was conducted on posture care, balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and lifestyle changes to prevent osteoporosis and maintain healthy bones. Doctors and rehabilitation experts shared simple techniques for daily posture correction, highlighted the importance of calcium and vitamin D in diet, and encouraged participants to adopt weight-bearing physical activities such as walking and yoga. The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions and gain practical tips for improving their bone health in everyday life.

Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, commended the efforts:

We plan to continue such community-centric programs for wider impact."

Under the #SNSPAbhiyaan, a special nutrition drive led by Dr. R. P. Arora, AMS, included distribution of fresh fruits and makhana to children and women, along with personalized nutritional counseling, promoting healthy dietary habits and overall wellness in the community.

Further, the Community Medicine Department conducted a health awareness and counseling session at RHTC Najafgarh, focusing on childhood nutrition, immunization, and antenatal care, empowering mothers and caregivers with essential knowledge for the well-being of their families.

Additionally, an Eye Health Camp was conducted, where participants received eye screenings and free spectacles, ensuring vision care as part of the hospital’s holistic preventive outreach.
