A World Record to be Created Tomorrow at Kartavya Path – World’s Longest 10 km Live Canvas Painting – Kuljeet Singh Chahal

The record for the “most artists contributing to the same painting simultaneously” currently stands at 5,084 artists, achieved by Fundación Olga Sinclair in Panama in 2014 for a painting created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal. Surpassing this record, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will set a new world record tomorrow, September 19, 2025, by creating a 10 km long live canvas painting at the lawns of Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

Shri Chahal said that keeping in mind the 75 years of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi—“Seva hi Sankalp hai, Bharat Pratham Prerna hai”—the Council is organizing a series of programs under Seva Parv from September 17 to October 2, 2025. As part of this series, the grand event “Viksit Bharat ke Rang, Kala ke Sang” will be organized tomorrow in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University. This announcement was made by NDMC Vice Chairperson Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal during a press conference today.

Shri Chahal said that tomorrow will be a historic day when all previous records of live painting will be broken. He further added that this nationwide movement will see participation from every state, every district, and every village. For the first time, such a large-scale event is being organized where renowned Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri awardees, and other eminent artists from across the country will participate. Among them are Shri Jatin Das, Shri Biman B. Bas (Delhi), Shri Adwaita Gadanayak (Odisha), Shri Jai Prakash (Delhi), Shri Ram Kishan Chhipa (Rajasthan), Smt. Shanti Devi (Bihar), Shri Paresh Rathwa (Gujarat), Shri Kalyan Joshi, Shri Nirmal Soni, Shri Lokesh Joshi, Shri Ayush Chhipawal, Shri Lavish Joshi, and many others who will play a key role in this historic celebration.

On the occasion, Shri Amar Shri Dharni, Director, Triveni Kala Sangam, said that just as areas like science, technology, and agriculture come into the mainstream, this event will bring artists too into the mainstream. The Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision is that progress must happen in every sector, making all self-reliant and leading. Artists also have a vital role in nation-building, and this event will provide them with recognition and honor.

Shri Harsh Vardhan Sharma, Consultant (Art & Culture), said that artists are the intellectual and cultural soft power of the nation. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this soft power is now becoming an integral part of the country’s development journey, which is a matter of great pride for all of us.
