CP DELHI GRANTS OUT OT THE TURN PROMOTION TO CT. KARTAR SINGH

Sh. Satish Golchha, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi has granted out-of-turn promotion to Ct. Kartar Singh for displaying extraordinary courage and demonstrating outstanding bravery and swift response by apprehending a notorious interstate burglary gang following an armed encounter near Asiad Village, Hauz Khas in the early hours of 1st August, 2025.
 
At a ceremony held at Police Headquarters, today, the Commissioner of Police, Delhi pipped Ct. Kartar Singh to the next higher rank of Head Constable. The CP Delhi also congratulated him for this achievement and wished him a bright career.
 
Background
 
On the intervening night of 31st July-1st August,2025 the staff of PS Malviya Nagar, South District Ct. Kartar Singh was deployed for patrolling in the area for prevention and detection of crime keeping in view the recent incidents of house burglary. The staff was briefed and the description of such criminals were shared with them.  At around 4 am, Constable Kartar Singh during night patrolling, noticed three suspicious men on a motorcycle. Upon being challenged, the suspects fled at high speed, triggering a 30-minute chase through several colonies. The pursuit culminated at Khel Gaon, where the suspects were intercepted. During the confrontation, they attacked Ct. Kartar Singh with iron rods, aiming at his head. His helmet saved him from serious injury.
 
Outnumbered and under direct assault, Ct. Kartar Singh maintained exemplary composure. After giving a verbal warning and firing one warning shot into the air, he fired a controlled shot in self-defence, injuring one accused in the leg. All three were soon overpowered. After the encounter, private guards of Asiad village helped the police in detaining the accused and shifting the injured to the hospital. Later on, they were identified as Sikander (injured person),  Darshan Singh and Vijender Singh. Upon their possession, house breaking tools and 01 motorcycle were recovered.  In this regard, a case was registered at PS Hauz Khas and during interrogation, they disclosed that they had committed burglaries and were further doing recee in the area for committing burglary.
