THE STAFF OF PS MADHU VIHAR, EAST DISTRICT CRACK DOWN ON ILLEGAL GAMBLING; FIVE GAMBLERS ARRESTED WITH ?39,500 STAKE MONEY RECOVERED

INCIDENT& INVESTIGATION: -
     As part of the ongoing crackdown on crime and criminal activities, the East District Police continues to maintain heightened vigilance in vulnerable areas. Acting on these directions, a dedicated team from PS Madhu Vihar was placed on high alert and specifically briefed to proactively prevent and detect criminal activity within its jurisdiction.
     On 23.08.2025, while deployed on routine patrolling duty in PS area, HC Sachin Tyagi received a credible tip-off from a confidential informant. The information pertained to a group of individuals allegedly involved in illegal gambling at Children Park, near Mangalam Red Light, I.P. Extension, Delhi. The information was immediately conveyed to senior officers. Acting swiftly, a police team was constituted, comprising HC Sachin Tyagi, HC Arun, HC Subodh, HC Mohit and HC Madan, led by SHO Madhu Vihar and overall guidance of Sh. Tilak Chand Bisht ACP/Madhu Vihar. The team reached at the location and found 05 individuals engaged in gambling with playing cards with cash. Upon sighting the police team, the suspects attempted to flee and destroy evidence by discarding playing cards and currency. However, due to the alertness, strategic planning, and swift action of the team, all individuals were successfully apprehended on the spot. Incriminating materials, including playing cards and a significant amount of cash, were recovered from the scene. Accordingly, a case under Section 12 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act has been registered vides FIR No. 273/2025, dated 23.08.2025 at PS Madhu Vihar. Further investigation is currently underway.
 
MOTIVE OF THE ACCUSED: -
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they indulged in gambling to earn quick and easy money without hard work. Most of them were unemployed or irregularly employed, and hence resorted to gambling as a source of income. Their desperation to make fast money drew them repeatedly into such unlawful activities despite being aware of the legal consequences.

2. Dayal Chand Pujari (44 yrs), R/o Gali No. 6, West Vinod Nagar, Delhi
3. Irshad Ali, R/o Gali No. 3, Mandawali Uchepar, Delhi
4. Sikandar Kumar (25 yrs), R/o Durga Marg, Mandawali, Delhi
5. Chatur Singh (29 yrs), R/o Gali No. 9, West Vinod Nagar, Delhi
PREVIOUS INVOLVEMENT: -
•  Irshad Ali – Habitual offender; previously involved in a dacoity case at PS Preet Vihar in 2022.
* Dayal Chand & Chatur Singh – Previously involved in 05 cases of gambling.
RECOVERY: -
• Total cash recovered: ?39,500/- 
• 104 playing cards.
