ONE SNATCHER APPREHENDED BY THE TEAM OF OPERATIONS CELL.

FOUR STOLEN MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION.
ACCUSED WAS APPREHENDED WHEN HE WAS ROAMING IN THE AREA TO DISPOSE THE SNATCHED/THEFT MOBILE PHONES.
ONE CASE OF SNATCHING AND THREE CASES OF MOBILE THEFT OF SOUTH-WEST DISTRICT SOLVED.
TECHNICAL & MANUAL SURVEILLANCE LED TO THE APPREHENSION OF ACCUSED.

A team of Operations Cell, South West District had apprehended one desperate snatcher namely Sumit @ Mama R/o Mangolpuri, Delhi, age 39 years. With his arrest, four stolen mobile phones including one iPhone have been recovered from his possession.

INCIDENT, TEAM AND OPERATION:

To curb the incidents of snatching and mobile theft in the area of South West District, a dedicated team comprising SI Kamal Kant, HC Dilip, HC Narender, HC Rajkumar, HC Anil, HC Mukesh, Ct Sunny and Ct Bablu of Operations Cell/SWD was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Hari Singh, I/C Anti Snatching Cell/SWD under the close supervision of Sh. Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, ACP/Operations/SWD to nab the active criminals in the area. The team was tasked to develop intelligence, collect information about the criminals as well as suspicious strangers roaming in the area.

On 08/06/2025, an incident of gold chain snatching was reported in PS Palam vide FIR No. 346/25, u/s 304(2)/3(5) BNS wherein a lady alleged that while she was going to meet her relative and was at Gali No. 1, Mahavir Enclave, Palam, Delhi, two unknown persons came on a bike and the pillion rider snatched her gold chain (weighing 20 gms) from her neck and ran away. Subsequently, the team conducted extensive technical investigation, analyzed more than 200 CCTV cameras within 15 km radius of the spot and also developed secret information about the culprits. The IMEI numbers of stolen/snatched mobile phones were put under surveillance. The team increased patrolling in the area in odd hours.

On 15/08/2025, on the basis of secret information, the team apprehended one person near Palam Railway Phatak, Sadh Nagar, Palam, Delhi. On his cursory search, four smartphones including one iPhone were recovered from his possession. On interrogation, he could not give satisfactory reply regarding the recovered phones. Later, he disclosed his name as Sumit @ Mama and confessed to have stolen the recovered mobile phones and was roaming in the area to dispose them. He further revealed his involvement in the gold chain snatching committed along with his associate Vikash @ Totla in the area of Palam. On checking, the recovered mobile phones were found to be stolen.
