Delhi Police Organises Nasha Mukti Awareness Programme at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University

Delhi Police, in collaboration with Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, organised a comprehensive Drug Awareness and Prevention Programme at the college campus today. The programme was graced by Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, Delhi as the Chief Guest. Senior officers of Delhi Police, Principals of Daulat Ram College, Miranda House, SRCC, Hansraj College, faculty members, dignitaries, and a large number of students participated in the event.
The programme began with the inauguration of the Awareness Wall created by Delhi Police at Daulat Ram College, followed by a drug awareness video screening through Jan Sampark Vahan. Students and dignitaries also viewed a painting exhibition on drug prevention prepared by youth. The ceremonial lamp lighting marked the formal inauguration, followed by cultural performances including Ganesh Vandana and powerful nukkad nataks (street plays) by students of Daulat Ram, Miranda House, Hansraj College, and the famous artist Sh. Rahul Khanna’s Education Through Theatre, all highlighting the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of youth leadership in prevention.
In his keynote address, the Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, Delhi, lauded the efforts of Delhi University students and emphasized that:
“Drug abuse is not merely a law-and-order challenge but a grave threat to our families, society, and the future of our youth. What begins with curiosity or peer pressure often ends in addiction, disease, and destruction. Drugs fuel crime and organized networks that exploit the younger generation. The true strength of our nation lies in its youth. If this energy is wasted in drugs, the nation suffers. Delhi Police has therefore resolved to pursue a dual strategy – strict enforcement against traffickers and continuous awareness among society.”
He urged students to become “ambassadors of a drug-free Delhi”, influencing their peers positively and spreading awareness in their communities.
