Alleged WhatsApp Number Found Linked to Multiple Cyber Complaints

The staff of PS Cyber Police Station, North-West District, has apprehended an accused person namely, Parth Bhatia S/o Naveen Bhatia R/o Moti Nagar, West Delhi, Age – 24 years, who was involved in duping innocent people on the pretext of fake online job offers.

The arrest was made in connection with a case registered on the complaint of Ms. Anshula Sharma W/o Deepak Sharma R/o State Bank Colony, Model Town, Delhi, wherein she was cheated of ?15,000 and her Apple MacBook under the guise of a job-related requirement. One mobile phone used in the offence has been recovered.

Brief Facts & Incident Details:-

A complaint was received at Police Station Cyber, North-West District, from a woman named Ms. Anshula Sharma who alleged that an unknown individual had contacted her via WhatsApp, offering a part-time work-from-home job opportunity. After gaining her trust, the accused tricked her into depositing ?15,000 as a "security fee" and persuaded her to hand over her Apple MacBook under the pretext of an upgrade required for the job. The accused had arranged a Rapido pickup for the same.

Accordingly, an FIR No. 38/25, U/s 318(4) BNS, was registered at PS Cyber, North-West District, on the complaint of the complainant. Investigation was subsequently taken up.

? Team And Investigation:-

Considering the gravity and nature of the offence, a dedicated team was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Dinesh Dahiya, SHO/PS Cyber, comprising SI Rahul, HC Deepak Rana, HC Pawan, and HC Mohit. The team operated under the close supervision of Sh. Rajeev Kumar, ACP/ Cyber North-West, and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team was thoroughly briefed and assigned the task of solving the case and apprehending the accused at the earliest.

The team thoroughly analyzed the WhatsApp IP logs, Rapido booking records, and other technical evidence. With persistent surveillance and effort, the accused was traced and identified as Parth Bhatia S/o Naveen Bhatia R/o Moti Nagar, West Delhi, Age – 24 years and arrested from his residence in Moti Nagar, West Delhi. On his instance a mobile phone used in commission of crime was recovered.

During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed his involvement in the case and disclosed that he was indulging in online scams to fund his gambling addiction.

Further efforts are underway to investigate his possible involvement in other similar cases/complaints.
