EFFECTIVE FUNCTIONING OF MANAS – NATIONAL NARCOTICS HELPLINE/ PORTAL IN DELHI

The MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asuchna Kendra) – National Narcotics Helpline Portal, launched by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, during the 7th Apex Level NCORD Meeting and subsequently expanded during the Regional Conference on Drug Trafficking & National Security held on 11.01.2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, has emerged as a crucial public interface for reporting drug-related offenses across the country.

A dedicated toll-free number 1933 and an online platform have been made accessible to citizens 24x7, to report narcotics-related information anonymously and securely.

As per the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the MANAS Portal has been effectively established under the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, and is fully operational.

Action Taken on MANAS Portal Complaints (W.E.F. 11.01.2025 to 06.08.2025)

During this period, total 16 actionable tickets resulted in recovery of contraband substances including Heroin, Ganja, Psychotropic Tablets, Injectables, and Liquor, leading to registration of cases under NDPS Act, Excise Act, IPC, and Gambling Act across various police stations in Delhi.

ANTF Crime Branch also independently conducted follow-up raids on leads received via the MANAS Portal.

Summary of Significant Recoveries:

  • Heroin/Smack: Over 180 gm recovered in multiple cases (PS Burari, Bhalswa Dairy, Nand Nagri)
  • Ganja: Over 3700 gm recovered (PS Anand Parbat, Vivek Vihar, R.K. Puram, Govindpuri)
  • Buprenorphine/Avil Injections: Seized in PS Aman Vihar, Ranhola, Vijay Vihar
  • Liquor: 56 and 24 quarters recovered in separate cases in PS Ranhola, PS Karawal Nagar
  • Others: Cases under Excise, IPC, and Gambling Act were also registered and investigated

Delhi Police reiterates its commitment to strengthening the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. Citizens are exhorted to report any suspicious narcotic activity through the MANAS Helpline (Toll-Free: 1933) or via the online portal and mobile app (under UMANG platform). Confidentiality of complainants is strictly ensured.
