Drive Safe, Arrive Safe – Your Safety, Our Priority! Delhi Traffic Police Intensifies Road Safety Awareness Across the Capital

In a steadfast commitment to promoting safer roads and responsible driving behavior, the Delhi Traffic Police, under the supervision of Shri Satya Vir Katara, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic Headquarters), has successfully carried out a comprehensive series of Road Safety Awareness Programmes across Delhi. These initiatives aimed to engage a wide spectrum of road users — including school students, cyclists, auto/taxi drivers, public transport staff, and daily commuters — to raise awareness about traffic rules, women’s safety, and the importance of disciplined road usage.

 

Empowering the Youth: Road Safety Education in Schools

 

A major highlight of the campaign was its focus on educating young students. The Delhi traffic Police awareness sessions at Saravodya Prathmik Vidhyalya, Malviya Nagar, Delhi MCD Primary School, Shakarpur, Delhi and Anglo Sanskrit V.J.Sr.Sec. School, Daryaganj,Delhi. Approximately 450 students and 19 teachers took part in these sessions aimed at instilling essential traffic safety knowledge and road discipline.

The sessions included interactive demonstrations and a Road Safety Quiz Competition, where students actively engaged by asking questions and showcasing their understanding of safe road behavior.

 

On-Ground Awareness at Major Traffic Intersections

To ensure maximum public outreach, the Delhi Traffic Police conducted impactful awareness campaigns at Nirman vihar East Delhi,Safdarjung Madrasa and Shanti Van Chowk Delhi engaging over 8450 approx road users — such as pedestrians, two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers, and cyclists. Participants were educated on critical road safety aspects such as obeying traffic signals, wearing helmets and seatbelts, do Not drink and drive , do not go wrong side and aware about women safety, and following general traffic discipline.

Visibility Drive for Cyclists

A dedicated Cycle Conspicuity and Safety Drive was held to enhance the safety of cyclists at Shivaji Marg Najafgarh Road and Manglam Hospital East Vinod Nagar, Delhi . In this campaign, 175 cyclists across various parts of the city were sensitized about safe riding practices. Reflective tapes were affixed to their bicycles to improve visibility during night hours, thereby significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

 

Awareness Session for Auto/TSR  Drivers

Another impactful effort under the ongoing Road Safety Awarenes  Programme was carried out of TSR/Auto drivers at Uttam Nagar Metro Station,Hauz Khas Metro Station,Jor Bagh Metro Station and Auto Stand Mother Dairy Pandav Nagar East, Delhi  total 99 drivers sensitized about traffic rules and road safety conducted. The session aimed to promote disciplined road behavior and enhance awareness about traffic regulations. This initiative reflects the Delhi Traffic Police’s commitment to engaging all sections of society including those serving the nation in the mission of safer roads and responsible driving.

Specialized Training for Public Transport Drivers

Recognizing the crucial role of public transport drivers in road safety, the department organized structured training sessions for DTC & Cluster Bus drivers at DTC depot, Sec.4, Rohini, Delhi Conducted, the programme trained 48 DTC bus drivers  on topics including traffic law compliance, pedestrian awareness, safe braking, and proper conduct on the road.

 

Women’s Empowerment Through Two-Wheeler Training

  

In a commendable step toward gender empowerment, a Two-Wheeler Training Programme for Women was held at Panjabi Bagh Traffic Training Park. 04 women were trained in safe riding techniques, road rules, and emergency response measures. The initiative aimed to boost confidence among women and equip them with skills to navigate both routine and emergency situations independently.

 

Senior officers, including Special CP Traffic Sh. Ajay Chaudhary, Addl. CP HQ Traffic Sh. Satya Vir Katara, and DCP HQ I Traffic Sh. Shashank Jaiswal, commended the efforts of the Road Safety Cell in successfully spreading awareness. They emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering safer road habits and ensuring better compliance with traffic regulations, particularly among public transport personnel.

 

The Delhi Traffic Police remains dedicated to promoting road safety awareness and ensuring a safer, more efficient road environment for all citizens.
