ONE ABSCONDING CRIMINAL WANTED IN A RIOT CUM PHYSICAL ASSAULT & DAMAGE TO PROPERTY CASE OF PS SWAROOP NAGAR, DELHI ARRESTED BY NR-II, CRIME BRANCH, DELHI

THE ACCUSED WAS A KEY SUSPECT WHO DAMAGED THE STORE OF THE COMPLAINANT.
THE ACCUSED HAS BEEN ABSCONDING SINCE THE INCIDENT I.E., SINCE 24.06.25, FREQUENTLY CHANGING HIS ADDRESSES AND LOCATIONS IN AN ATTEMPT TO EVADE ARREST.

INTRODUCTION:

The diligent and unwavering efforts of the team of Insp. Ajay Singh, NR-II, Crime Branch team have successfully concluded the criminal activities of the wanted criminal, Sumit s/o Raju r/o Dada Patil Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi, Age -27 yrs. He was apprehended following his involvement in a riot, physical assault and damage to property case of PS Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. The accused, along with his associates, viciously damaged the clothing store of complainant, physically assaulted the salesman in the store. After the incident, accused Sumit frequently changed his location in a bid to evade capture.

GIST OF INCIDENT:

On 24.06.2025 at about 4.30 PM, 7-8 assailants forcefully entered into a clothing store named ‘Pehnawa readymade store’ in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi and assaulted the salesman, broke LED, mirrors and other articles etc. in the store. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 322/25, dated 25.06.25, u/s 333/191(2)/190/118(1)/324(4/3(5) BNS, PS Swaroop Nagar, Delhi was registered in this connection.

INFORMATION & TEAM OPERATION:

The NR-II, Crime Branch, Delhi, has been actively conducting both technical and ground surveillance to apprehend wanted and absconding criminals while keeping a close watch on the activities of desperate offenders.

A team headed by Inspr Ajay Singh, NR-II, Crime Branch, Delhi started working on this case. on 22.07.2025, a secret information was received by ASI Parveen Kumar that one wanted accused namely Sumit s/o Raju, who is wanted in a riot, assault and damage to property case of PS Swaroop Nagar, will come in the area of Azadpur Mandi, Delhi. Accordingly, a team headed by Insp Ajay Singh, comprising ASI Ashok Kumar, ASI Sanjeev, ASI Parveen, HC Ashok Kumar under the close supervision of Sh. Narender Singh Beniwal, ACP/NR-II was constituted by DCP/Crime Branch, Sh. Harsh Indora, IPS to nab the criminal.

A trap was laid at the place of information. Utilizing both technical inputs and ground level inputs, the team successfully apprehended accused Sumit. He was subsequently arrested u/s 35(1)(C) BNSS by Crime Branch, Delhi and produced before the Hon’ble Court. He has no previous involvements. Earlier, 05 accused were already arrested by local police in this case and accused Sumit has been absconding since the incident.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED:

Accused Sumit is born and brought up in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. He lives in his joint family and is married. He completed his education up to the 4th grade at a government school in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. He works as a security guard in Azadpur Mandi, Delhi. However, he became involved with negative influences and developed a drinking habit. His friend Chaitanya @ Chetan has grudge with the owner of ‘Pehnawa readymade store’ situated in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. Chaitanya @ Chetan called Sumit and 5-6 other associates to Libaspur from where they went to ‘Pehnawa readymade store’ where they assaulted the salesman, broke LED, mirrors and other articles etc. in the store. Following the crime, he abandoned his family and frequently changed his location to evade arrest.
