STUDENT WINNERS FELICITATED FOR SAFETY INNOVATION

Road Safety Cell, Delhi Traffic Police organised the award ceremony of the Road Safety Awareness Summer Camp - 2025, on 25th July 2025 at Adarsh Auditorium, Delhi Police Headquarters, New Delhi. Sh. Ajay Chaudhary, Spl. Commissioner of Police/Traffic graced the occasion as chief guest in the presence of Addl. Commissioners of Police Satyavir Katara and other officers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Ajay Chaudhary, Spl. Commissioner of Police/Traffic, called upon the students to follow traffic rules, spread awareness among their peers, be alert and responsible road users. Being the future of our nation, with the right values and etiquettes, children can build a safer & better society. He lauded the efforts of Road Safety Cell in educating young citizens about traffic rules and road safety norms.

Delhi Traffic Police organised 12 batches of summer camps for school students from Classes VI to XII, starting from 19th May 2025 to 6th June 2025. Weekly batches were held simultaneously at the four Traffic Training Parks namely Bal Bhawan, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Punjabi Bagh and Roshanara Bagh in which around 6000 students participated.  Delhi Traffic Police had been organising road safety awareness summer camp for school students every year during the summer vacations since 2015, with a view to help students utilise their summer vacations in a meaningful manner and at the same time impart some life-skill techniques essential for the enhancement of their overall personality and also imbibe good values in them.

 

The participating students were imparted interactive & practical sessions on aspects of Road Safety, Traffic Management, Self-Defence, First-Aid and CPR Administration, Gender Sensitization and Yoga. Competitions based on road safety such as quiz, painting & traffic drill were also conducted among the participating students.

 

 

A final round of competition among the first prize winners of all the 12 batches were conducted and the overall winners in all the 3 competitions were felicitated by the Chief Guest during the award ceremony that was held today. In addition, stakeholder companies and faculty members were also felicitated by the chief guest.

These workshops help young people understand consequences of reckless actions and built trust between youth and law enforcement as a result , a juvenile road offences in the national capital saw a steep decline — dropping from 287 incidents in July 2024 to just 89 during the same period in July 2025. This 69% reduction has been largely attributed to the success of Road Safety Awareness Workshops conducted across Delhi.

 

To share the good work, activities, and important updates of the Delhi Traffic Police, a special newsletter was launched. The newsletter was unveiled during a ceremony by the Chief Guest.

On the occasion, cultural activities based on road safety like qawwali, rap songs, nukkar natak etc. were also organised. The main highlight of the programme was the rap song and mimicry by specially-able children. On this occasion Addl.CP/Traffic Satyavir Katara also thanked the participants and congratulated the prize winners.
