Mahesh Chandra - Delhi

In view of the overnight rainfall in the national capital, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairperson, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), undertook an early morning inspection of key areas falling under NDMC jurisdiction. He was accompanied by senior officials and Heads of Departments from the Civil Engineering and Public Health Divisions.

The inspection was carried out to assess ground-level preparedness, review the functioning of drainage systems, and ensure smooth civic services during the monsoon season. Shri Chahal visited multiple locations where dewatering pumps have been installed as a preventive measure against waterlogging.

Expressing satisfaction over the performance of NDMC teams, Shri Chahal informed that only one isolated complaint of waterlogging was received at the NDMC’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). Importantly, there were no incidents of tree falls, electricity faults, or major disruptions reported in the NDMC area.

Shri Chahal commended the dedicated efforts of NDMC staff and field teams, stating, “The seamless civic management during the rain is a testament to NDMC’s proactive planning and on-ground readiness. I sincerely appreciate the tireless work of our officers, engineers, and sanitation workers who have been operating round-the-clock to maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for residents and visitors in the New Delhi area.”

He also reaffirmed NDMC’s commitment to maintaining high service standards during the monsoon season and ensuring public safety under the leadership and vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for a clean, smart, and resilient capital city.

Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal said, “Viksit Bharat ke liye Viksit NDMC is our mission. We are working together under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to realize this goal.”

He added, “We have taken a firm resolve to eliminate waterlogging from NDMC areas. To achieve this, we have ensured the installation of adequate pumping systems, development of sumps, construction of rainwater harvesting pits and deployment of sufficient staff on the ground.”

He further stated that these proactive measures have ensured the smooth flow of traffic and uninterrupted public movement throughout the NDMC jurisdiction, even during continuous rainfall.
