DELHI POLICE CRIME BRANCH BUSTS TWO INTERSTATE AUTO-THEFT RACKETS; 8 STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED, 7 ARRESTED

In a significant crackdown on organized vehicle theft networks, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has successfully dismantled two interstate auto-theft syndicates operating across Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Manipur. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, teams from the Central Range and Eastern Range-I arrested a total of 7 individuals, recovered 8 stolen  vehicles, and seized a large cache of tools and forged documents used in vehicle theft and dismantling operations.
 
CASE 1: CENTRAL RANGE – GANG INVOLVED IN VEHICLE THEFT & DISMANTLING BUSTED
The Central Range of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully apprehended three notorious auto-lifters involved in stealing and dismantling vehicles. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit (27), Rajender alias Tinu (46), and Satbir alias Sonu alias Amritsariya (47) — all residents of West Delhi. The operation led to the recovery of One stolen car, four chassis plates, various body parts of stolen vehicles, specialized tools used for dismantling stolen vehicles.
 
INTRODUCTION:
Acting on a confidential tip received by Head Constable Praveen regarding the presence of auto-lifter Rohit with a dismantled car (bearing registration number HR38AC1223) in Bijwasan, Delhi, the Crime Branch initiated an investigation. Technical surveillance confirmed the information, prompting the formation of a dedicated team.
The team was led by Sub-Inspector Birpal Singh and comprised Head Constables Vijay Singh, Samander, Parveen Kumar, Jai Singh, Raushan, and Lady Constable Varsha. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector Sunil Kumar Kalkhande and the overall guidance of DCP/Crime-II, Delhi. The objective was to apprehend the auto-lifters and recover the stolen vehicles.
 
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION:
 
On June 27, 2025, the team laid a trap near the Bajghera toll plaza in Bijwasan, Delhi. With continuous tracking and the support of informers and technical surveillance, the team successfully apprehended Rohit (27), S/o Deshraj, R/o Mayapuri, Delhi.
From his possession, a dismantled Maruti Eeco body frame/structure with its chassis plate was recovered. The vehicle was found to be stolen from the area under PS Ambedkar Nagar, connected to FIR No. 016823/25, U/s 305(b) BNS, dated June 18, 2025.
Upon sustained interrogation, Rohit confessed to operating a gang involved in stealing and dismantling vehicles, along with his two associates — Rajender alias Tinu and Satbir alias Amritsariya. Following this lead, on June 28, 2025, accused Rajender alias Tinu (46), a resident of Vikaspuri, Delhi, was arrested from Harinagar Ghanta Ghar, Delhi.From his possession, a stolen Hyundai i20 luxury car (linked to PS DBG Road) and three chassis plates of Maruti Eeco cars (stolen from the jurisdiction of PS Okhla Industrial Area) were recovered. 
Finally, on July 5, 2025, the team apprehended the mastermind of the gang, Satbir alias Sonu alias Amritsariya (47), a resident of Tilak Nagar, Delhi, from the Nihal Vihar area. From his possession, tires and rims of a dismantled stolen vehicle were recovered.
CASE 2: EASTERN RANGE-I – LUXURY VEHICLE SYNDICATE BUSTED IN SILIGURI,WEST BENGAL.
 
In a parallel operation, the Eastern Range-I team, based on specific intelligence, tracked the delivery of a stolen high-end vehicle to Siliguri, West Bengal. A swift action by the team led to the arrest of four key operatives and the recovery of three stolen vehicles — a Mahindra Thar, Toyota Innova, and a Maruti Brezza.
 
DETAILS OF THE OPERATION
A credible secret information was received that a stolen vehicle was to be delivered in the locality of Siliguri, West Bengal, by members of a criminal nexus/gang engaged in the theft, purchase, and sale of stolen vehicles from Delhi NCR and other parts of India. 
Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence, a dedicated team comprising Sub-Inspector Prakash No. D-5135, Head Constable Saurav No. 1212/Crime, and Head Constable Manish No. 1341/Crime was dispatched to Siliguri, West Bengal, on 29-06-2025, with the mission to intercept a stolen vehicle delivery and apprehend members of an organized criminal nexus. 
Despite their prompt response, the team discovered upon arrival that the stolen vehicle had already been delivered. The stolen vehicle was found in the possession of Kaiminlen Haopik S/o Shri Doujahaokip, R/o Haopik, Lhungjang, Churachandpur, PS Kangpokpi, Manipur, Age-26 years (sitting at driver seat) & Mohd. Dildar, S/o Shri Md. Mugeer, R/o Deepa Sarai, Saleempura, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Age- 36 years (sitting at co-passenger side). 
Upon conducting a search of Kaiminlen Haopik, S/o Shri. Doujahaokip, a forged Registration Certificate (No. 23BH3117A) was recovered from the back left pocket of the pants he was wearing, and insurance documents were recovered from the dashboard of the Thar vehicle.
 
During interrogation, Mohd. Dildar confessed to purchasing a stolen Mahindra Thar from Md. Jaani @ Toni S/o Ali Jaan @ Ali Hassan R/o Dak Bangla, Bilari, Uttar Pradesh Age-42 Years. Dildar revealed that he was tasked with delivering the vehicle to a receiver working under Jumma Khan in Manipur. The stolen Mahindra Thar, along with its key, forged Registration Certificate (RC) bearing number 23BH3117A, and falsified insurance documents, was seized by the vigilant police team. Dildar further disclosed that he procured a counterfeit number plate from a known associate in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
Another suspect, Kaiminlen Haopik, admitted during questioning that he was instructed by Jumma Khan, a resident of Manipur, to receive the stolen vehicle from Mohd. Dildar and transport it to remote areas of Manipur. Haopik confirmed that the forged RC was provided by Dildar, further corroborating the syndicate's operations.
Through relentless pursuit and sharp investigative work, the team traced the primary suspect, Mohd. Jaani @ Toni S/o Ali Jaan @ Ali Hassan R/o Dak Bangla, Bilari, Uttar Pradesh. Jaani was intercepted on NH-09, the Delhi-Moradabad highway, while driving a Toyota Innova without a number plate. Additionally, based on further information provided by Jaani, the team recovered a Maruti Brezza, which was used by Jaani and his associates as a getaway vehicle during thefts to evade police detection. The car is found to be stolen in E-FIR No.  00803 Dated 09/01/2025 PS Kalyanpuri U/s 305(B) BNS. Acting on Jaani's disclosures, the police team conducted a raid at his residence in Bilari, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The operation yielded critical evidence, including 10 Mahindra flip keys without blades, one Mahindra controller unit, screwdrivers, wrenches, spanners, and various nuts and bolts used for vehicle theft.
Further, Sub-Inspector Guman Singh analyzed the seized mobile phone of Mohd. Dildar and in a undercover operation arrested Arjun S/o Vijay Singh R/o 2536, Near Prem Shankar Vatika, Durga Colony, Bareilly Sarai, Sambhal UP Age-29 Years who is manufacturer of fake number plates.  
 
 
PROFILE OF ACCUSED INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED IN THE OPERATION:
All arrested individuals were actively involved in vehicle theft and dismantling operations.
1. Satbir alias Sonu alias Amritsariya is identified as the mastermind of the gang. A native of Amritsar, Punjab, he is a 10th-grade pass-out. He was first arrested in 2011 at PS Ranhola for a similar crime and is involved in five additional criminal cases with the same modus operandi across Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Accused Sonu was last released from Panipat Jail in 2022 and is known for his expertise in dismantling vehicles and selling parts. He is also wanted in a 2022 case by PS Industrial Sector-29, Panipat, Haryana.
2. Rohit is an expert in dismantling vehicles and studied up to the 4th grade. He hails from District Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.
3. Rajender alias Tinu is proficient in stealing cars and has completed education up to the 10th grade.
4. Kaiminlen Haopik S/o Shri Doujahaokip, R/o Haopik, Lhungjang, Churachandpur, PS Kangpokpi, Manipur, Age-26 years is a resident of Manipur and he works as a driver for main receiver Jumma Khan already wanted. Jumma Khan used him as a car jockey, he came to Silliguri on the directions of Jumma Khan just to take the delivery of recovered Thar, so that he can further deliver it to Jumma Khan. 
5. Mohd. Dildar, S/o Shri Md. Mugeer, R/o Deepa Sarai, Saleempura, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Age- 36 years .Earlier he used to be a truck driver and did driving in North Eastern states. Earlier he used to be a car delivery boy and diverted stolen cars to Jumma Khan and receivers of North Eastern states. Later to earn profit he himself became a stolen car receiver and directly started purchasing stolen vehicles from autolifter Md. Janni. He is in direct contact with Ju. Ma Khan and prior to the current delivery he has diverted 6 Mahindra thar CARS to Jumma Khan. Accused Md. Dildar has been found to be involve in FIR No. 392/19 U/s 343/386 IPC PS Nakhasa, Sambhal UP. (Receiver) 
 
6. Md. Jaani @ Toni S/o Ali Jaan @ Ali Hassan R/o Dak Bangla, Bilari, Uttar Pradesh Age-42 Years, is a professional autolifter. He has expertise in theft of Mahindra Thar CARS. He was getting advance orders from Dildar for a particular make Mahindra Thar car and only then he along with his Nepal based associates used to stole Mahindra Thar Cars from Delhi NCR region. He was sling each stolen Thar car to Dildar at a price of 2 lakhs. (Thief). Accused Mohd. Jaani is already history  of 11 criminal Cases related to autolifting. (Autolifter) 
 
7. Arjun S/o Vijay Singh R/o 2536, Near Prem Shankar Vatika, Durga Colony, Bareilly Sarai, Sambhal UP Age-29 Years runs a vehicle registration  plate shop in Sambhal. He came in touch with Dildar and started making High Security registration plates for stolen vehicles on the details passed by Dildar for stolen vehicles. (Fake Number Plate Manufacturer)
 
 
MODUS OPERANDI:
1. The accused individuals first identify target vehicles and steal them. The stolen vehicles are then hidden in isolated locations, where they are dismantled. The dismantled parts are subsequently sold in open markets such as Mayapuri, Delhi.
2. Accused Md. Jani is specialised in theft of Mahindra Thar Cars as it was easy for him to break into the car system. He receives orders from Dildar for a particular model of Mahindra Thar car and then only he used to steal it from Delhi NCR region later the gang operating in a systematic manner landed the stolen cars in North Eastern States after using Forger Number Plates & RC. 
 
 
RECOVERIES:
 
1. One i-20 car, stolen from PS-DBG Road.
2. Three chassis plates of dismantled cars, all stolen from PS-Okhla.
3. One body/structure along with chassis plates of a Maruti Eeco car, stolen from PS-Ambedkar Nagar.
4. Tools used for dismantling cars.
5. One Stolen Mahindra Thar 
6. One Stolen Toyota Innova
7. One Stolen Maruti Breeza
8. 10 Flip Keys of Mahindra Company Car without key blades
9. 8 sets of Iron moulds of Numbers (1-8) and their mirror moulds
10. 26 sets of Alphabetical Iron moulds of Alphabets (A-Z) and their mirror moulds
11. 2 Fake Number Plates of Printed Registration No. JH 10 DA 1010 resembling High Security Registration Plate 
12. One Vehicle Number Plate Punch Machine used for punching number plate of vehicles.

3. Case E-FIR No. 03211/25 U/s 305(b) BNS dated 01.02.25, PS-Okhla Industrial Area, Delhi.
4. Case E-FIR No. 014434/25 U/s 305(b) BNS dated 24.05.25, PS-Okhla Industrial Area, Delhi.
5. Case E-FIR No. 010470/24 U/s 379 IPC dated 12.04.24, PS-DBG Road, Delhi.
6. Case E-FIR No. 018067 Dated 02/07/2025 PS Samaypur Badli U/s 305(B) BNS

The Delhi Police Crime Branch Team’s unwavering dedication, strategic foresight, and proactive approach led to the successful dismantling of a well-organized vehicle theft syndicate. The team continues to investigate the incriminating evidences to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
