Delhi. More than 22,000 cow shelters operating across the country are no longer just service centers for cows, but have become strong centers of self-reliance providing employment to more than 20 lakh people. Products like Panchgavya, medicines, organic manure and wood made from cow dung have not only opened new opportunities for self-employment, but have also made a revolutionary contribution towards environmental protection.

This information was given to journalists by the Chief Convenor of Rashtriya Gaudhan Mahasangh, Vijay Khurana, today in his office in Hauz Khas. He said that at one time, where 9.5 lakh tons of cow dung used to flow on roads and drains, which was a problem, now cow dung is turning into eco-friendly wood and saving crores of trees from being cut. Khurana announced the National Gaudhan Summit 2025, which will be the biggest gathering of cow shelters and cowherds across the country till date. More than 5 lakh people will participate in it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited for the inauguration on 5 November and President Draupadi Murmu for the closing ceremony on 10 November.

Many prominent personalities including Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, senior MP Purushottam Rupala, Vishwa Hindu Parishad International President Alok Kumar, RSS Pracharak Devi Chandra Chopra and Saint Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will attend the summit. Khurana said that the Mahasangh was established in 2005 against the practice of cow slaughter that started during the British rule, and since then the number of cow shelters in the country has increased from 9 thousand to 22 thousand. He also clarified that the central government does not have any dedicated cow protection law right now, while the states have made laws at their own level.

On this occasion, senior RSS pracharak Devi Chandra Chopra, who is approaching the age of 100, said that the measure of India's prosperity should be the number of cows, but unfortunately their number is decreasing. He appealed to the government and society to immediately improve the situation.

Former MP Sunita Duggal, convener of the summit, said, "India's welfare is not possible without saving Krishna's cow and Shiva's Nandi." He called for considering cow service equal to national service.

Media in-charge Ram Mahesh Mishra said that during the summit, cow shelters from all over the country will set up their stalls and display their products. Many dignitaries were also present in the press conference, among whom former MLA Madan Lal, Bhushan Lal Parashar of Sanatan Dharma Mahasabha, Mahesh Sharma of Bharat Vikas Parishad and Vaidya Gyanendra Prakash were prominent.
