APPREHENSION OF PAROLE JUMPER CONVICTED TO 10 YEARS IMPRISONMENT IN RAPE CASE

INCIDENT
On 23.01.2015, the accused committed rape upon a woman in the area of Laxmi Nagar, Delhi, after allegedly intoxicating her. On the basis of the victim’s complaint, a case was registered vide FIR No. 212/17 u/s 376 IPC at PS Shakarpur, East District, Delhi.
During the investigation, Aditya Kumar, Basai Darapur, Ramesh Nagar, Delhi, was arrested. The Hon’ble Court vide order dated 19.01.2024, convicted him and awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment. He remained in judicial custody until he was granted interim bail on medical grounds by the Hon’ble Court on 06.03.2025.
As per bail conditions, he was directed to surrender before Central Jail No.11, Mandoli, Delhi on 05.05.2025, after completion of treatment. However, he failed to surrender and went absconding, violating court orders.
 
INFORMATION & TEAM OPERATION
Acting on directions from senior officers to locate and apprehend absconding convicts and parole jumpers in heinous crimes, a dedicated team led by Inspector Manmeet Malik, comprising HC Amit and HC Sonu Tomar under the close supervision of ACP Ramesh Lamba, was tasked with tracing Aditya Kumar.
Based on specific input developed by HC Amit, it was learned that the absconder was hiding in the Ramesh Nagar–Moti Nagar area of Delhi. The team conducted surveillance at multiple suspected hideouts and made discreet inquiries into his associates and movements.
After nearly 12–14 hours of continuous watch, the team zeroed in on a building near B-Block, Ramesh Nagar. Upon strong suspicion, a raid was conducted, and Aditya Kumar was successfully apprehended from the first floor of the said building.
He was immediately brought to the office of the Inter-State Cell, Crime Branch, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
INTERROGATION:
During sustained interrogation, Aditya Kumar admitted that he was granted interim bail on 06.03.2025 and was required to surrender on 05.05.2025. However, to avoid further incarceration, he chose not to surrender and instead planned to sell off his assets and shift his residence permanently to avoid detection and legal consequences.
