The number of illegal hawkers is increasing day by day at Maharaj Bada. At the same time, shopkeepers were also blocking the traffic by occupying the road up to three to four feet around their shops. The Municipal Corporation's Madakhlat staff had made an announcement two days ago in the evening and asked the hawkers not to set up shops. Even then the shopkeepers did not listen. They have occupied the pedestrian zone built by Smart City at a cost of crores of rupees. To remove them, Madakhlat and police took joint action on Monday evening. The hawkers understood after seeing the Madakhlat team and the police. They also started picking up their goods. One or two illegal hawkers started arguing with the Madakhlat team. As soon as they saw the police, they calmed down. During the action, the goods of the hawkers and other goods kept by the shopkeeper on the road including canopies, counters, tables, cushions etc. were seized. During the action, Excise Officer Shailendra Chauhan, Police Station in-charge Mohini Verma etc. were present.
