World Mental Health Week 2025 Celebrations Begin at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital with ‘Mann Mahotsav’

The Department of Psychiatry, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, inaugurated World Mental Health Week 2025 celebrations today under the banner of ‘Mann Mahotsav’ with a vibrant awareness march on campus. The march was graced and led by Director Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Principal Dr. Geetika Khanna, all Additional Medical Superintendents, and Head of Department of Psychiatry Dr. Pankaj Verma, along with faculty, residents, students, and staff. The march aimed to spread awareness, break stigma, and encourage open conversations around mental health.This year’s World Mental Health Week focuses on the theme “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.” In line with this, Mann Mahotsav will feature a series of engaging and educational events throughout the week, including: PG Quiz Competition on psychiatry and mental health, Poster and Painting Competitions to creatively express mental health awareness Mic Drop Event for youth voices on mental well-being, Panel Discussion with experts, highlighting challenges and solutions in ensuring mental health access during crises & emergencies.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Director VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring mental health services are accessible to the most deprived and needy persons in society. Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal VMMC, highlighted the role of youth in carrying forward the message of awareness, while Dr. Pankaj Verma, HOD Psychiatry, underlined the week-long celebrations as an opportunity to build a supportive and inclusive environment for all.The Department of Psychiatry welcomes the participation of students, faculty, staff, and the larger community in Mann Mahotsav 2025, to stand together in support of mental health.
