The then Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Rakesh Kurele has been suspended on charges of serious irregularities and ignoring the rules in the registration of private hospitals in Datia district. An investigation conducted by the Regional Director, Health Services, Gwalior Division found that during his tenure in 2022-23, many private hospitals were given more registration than the actual number of beds, which exposed serious irregularities.
Apart from this, the investigation has also revealed the possibilities of financial irregularities. If the financial irregularities are confirmed in the detailed investigation, a case of financial corruption can be registered against Dr. Kurele. At present, he has been suspended with immediate effect, being found guilty of violating the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966. During the suspension period, his headquarters has been fixed at the Regional Director's Office of Gwalior Division, where he will be eligible for subsistence allowance.
