Kuljeet Singh Chahal inspects waterlogging situation in NDMC area

Mahesh Chandra - Delhi
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, placing his duty above all else, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), personally inspected the potential waterlogging situations in the NDMC area caused by continuous rainfall since midnight.

The inspection began from the Outer Circle, Connaught Place, and a thorough review was conducted across the entire Council area.

Shri Chahal said, “Today is a day of festivities, but my priority is to ensure that no person visiting our area faces any kind of inconvenience and that people can celebrate their festival joyfully. With this in mind, I, along with our entire team – the Civil Engineering Department, the Electrical Department, and the Public Health Department – remained present in the field to ensure immediate resolution of any potential waterlogging issues.”

Shri Chahal informed that NDMC’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) did not receive any major waterlogging-related complaints during August 8 and 9, 2025. The minor complaints that were received pertained to CPWD. A total of 4 complaints (2 each day) were registered regarding fallen trees, of which 2 have been resolved and work is in progress on the remaining 2. A total of 11 complaints of ‘No Current Supply’ were registered, out of which 9 have been resolved and work is underway on 1 complaint.

The Vice Chairman directed all departments to maintain vigilant monitoring during the rains and to take immediate action in case of any problem so that citizens and visitors do not face any inconvenience.

Shri Chahal stated that no major waterlogging problem was observed in the NDMC area today, which is not just the result of today’s efforts but the outcome of continuous hard work by Team NDMC over the past several days. Adequate pumps had been deployed in advance at vulnerable waterlogging spots, sensitive locations were identified and monitored, and as a result, traffic movement remained smooth today.

Shri Chahal appreciated the entire NDMC team and all concerned officers for staying alert overnight, managing the situation, and working on problem resolution.
