India’s Top Researchers Honoured at Blackbuck Medical Research Awards 2025

44 scientists, doctors, and institutions from 20 cities in 15 states recognized for excellence in healthcare innovation and research

The Blackbuck Medical Research Awards 2025, hosted by Medical Dialogues in collaboration with the National Medical Forum, were held on Sunday, August 10, at Hotel The Lalit, New Delhi. The prestigious ceremony honoured 44 researchers and institutions for their outstanding contributions to Indian medical science through original research and innovation.

Named after the rare and graceful Indian antelope, the Blackbuck Awards symbolised the perseverance, adaptability, and resilience  of Indian medical researchers—many of whom thrive despite funding constraints, regulatory bottlenecks, and institutional challenges.

Now in its second edition, the awards received over 100+ high-quality nominations from across the country. After a rigorous evaluation by an independent jury, winners were selected across categories including the Pioneer Researcher Award, Rising Researcher Award, Stellar Research Recognition, and Trailblazer Awards. The awardees represented leading institutions such as AIIMS, PGIMER, ICMR, Apollo Hospitals, Medanta, and more.

The awards were presented in the esteemed presence of dignitaries and medical leaders including Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma (Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU), Dr. B. Srinivas (Director General of Health Services), Prof. Dr. Ashok Puranik (Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati), Dr. Anil Goyal (Executive Member, Delhi Medical Council).

The evening session featured Dr. Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS and Chairperson of the National Medical Commission, who delivered the keynote address, alongside  Shri Harsh Malhotra (Minister of State, Ministry of Corporate Affairs),
Running alongside the awards was the Medical Research Summit 2025, which hosted dynamic sessions on translating clinical trials into practice, harnessing AI in research, and reshaping the landscape of medical publishing. Speakers included deans, department heads, journal editors, and research leaders from across India.

Dr. Prem Aggarwal, Chairman of Medical Dialogues, stated:
"With the Blackbuck Awards, we brought Indian medical research into the spotlight it rightfully deserves. We were proud to honour both established and emerging research voices shaping the future of healthcare."
