Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesperson Sabir Fitwell, accusing the BJP government, said that the BJP government is directly hitting the pocket of the common man by increasing stamp duty four times. Every section including students, advocates, small traders and beneficiaries of government schemes will be affected by the stamp duty hike. The Mohan Yadav government of the state is breaking the financial backbone of the common man by increasing stamp duty four times in the state. This decision of the government is a Tughlaqi decision. He said that this is the biggest stamp duty hike in the history of the state, which the Congress strongly opposes. Congress spokesperson Sabir Fitwell said that the government had claimed that no new tax will be imposed now, that claim proved to be false. On one hand, the BJP government claims to provide the benefit of beneficiary-oriented schemes to the poor and middle class families and on the other hand, it is putting financial burden on the common man by increasing the stamp duty four times. He said that currently, a stamp of ?50 is required for affidavit, which will become ?200 due to the four-fold increase. Similarly, the stamp of ?1000 on the contract will cost ?5000 and the stamp of ?1000 on execution of power of attorney will become ?5000. Similarly, the fee on renewal of gun license will now be ?5000 instead of ?2000. He said that the BJP government is not preparing new sources to fill its treasury, nor is it making any action plan for the common man. On the contrary, it is bent on filling its treasury by directly robbing the pockets of the common man. The BJP Government of the state which claims to benefit every individual is working to break the financial backbone of the common man in the state.
