Food Safety Summit 2024

In line with FSSAI’s Eat Right India initiative, Herbalife organized the Food Safety Summit 2024 at The Lalit, New Delhi. The event was managed by The Red Carpet Ventures, bringing together key stakeholders including regulators, industry leaders, academia and consumer organizations to deliberate on strengthening the food safety ecosystem through technology, workplace wellness and consumer empowerment.

The summit commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Smt. Inoshi Sharma IRS, Executive Director, FSSAI. The inaugural session provided valuable insights from Income Tax Commissioner Smt. Shubhrata Prakash, IRS on the importance of mental health and Dr. Mudit Kapoor, Economist from the latest NSSO data on food-related trends.

Mr. Julian Cacchioli, Vice President Global Corporate Affairs – EMEA & India – Herbalife highlighted the organization’s commitment to support food safety initiatives in India. The summit saw important discussions on health, innovation and consumer empowerment in the food sector. A session on “Mindful Eating at Work” led by Ms. Bhuvaneshwari Balasubramanian highlighted the role of nutritious food and awareness campaigns at the workplace in enhancing employee productivity. Another session “Unleashing the Potential of AI in the Food Sector” moderated by Mr. S. Sharad Rao explored the transformational impact of AI on food safety through enhanced traceability and compliance, with an emphasis on public-private partnerships. Lastly, Mr. Rakesh Kumar led a session on “Empowering Consumers” which focused on clear food labeling, consumer education and aligning marketing claims with regulatory standards to protect consumer interests.

People included political leaders, food regulators, FBOs and AI providers, industry professionals, academic professionals and students were involved. The Food Safety Summit 2024 serves as an important platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The event concluded with actionable insights and strengthened collaboration towards building a safer, healthier, and more transparent food ecosystem.
