New Delhi, June 5 – On the occasion of World Environment Day and to mark the completion of 11 years of the Sankalp Se Siddhi Yatra (Journey from Resolution to Achievement) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, the Delhi BJP today relaunched the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) at the booth level, originally called for by the Prime Minister last year.
In the presence of party officials, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva planted a new sapling at the Delhi BJP office and also showed the plant he had planted last year, which has now grown into a tree.
Present on the occasion with Shri Virendra Sachdeva were:
• State General Secretary Shri Vishnu Mittal,
• Vice Presidents Shri Rajkumar Bhatia and Smt. Yogita Singh,
• Treasurer Shri Satish Garg,
• Media Head Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor,
• Ministers Smt. Sarika Jain and Smt. Sona Kumari,
• Office Secretary Shri Brijesh Rai,
• Co-head Shri Amit Gupta,
• Spokespersons Shri Yasir Jilani, Shri Vikram Bidhuri, Shri Rajkumar Phulwaria, Shri Nitin Tyagi, and Dr. Mamta Tyagi,
• New Delhi District President Shri Ravindra Chaudhary, among others, who also took the pledge – “Only when Delhi is green, will there be prosperity.”
Addressing the large gathering of party workers, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva said that the Arvind Kejriwal government has been involved in scandals even in the greenery campaign. As a result, 90% of roadside areas are dusty, and there hasn’t been significant growth in Delhi’s green cover.
He added that Kejriwal did not take adequate steps to reduce air pollution, especially during the winter smog season, nor has he resolved issues with landfill sites.
He said Kejriwal took no concrete action to reduce vehicular pollution. Broken roads have further increased both vehicular and dust pollution.
Virendra Sachdeva stated that the newly elected BJP government in Delhi is working on a fixed agenda: improving roads and increasing green areas.
He emphasized that the party’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” is advancing the cause of a Greener Delhi.
He also noted that the Lieutenant Governor, Delhi’s Chief Minister, Environment Minister, and Mayor are now working as a team on landfill site solutions, and a significant change will be visible by the end of 2026.
In conclusion, Virendra Sachdeva appealed to all Delhi residents to contribute towards environmental conservation and global climate welfare by reducing air conditioner usage at home, in offices, and even in cars whenever possible.
Our goal should be to reduce AC usage by one hour daily this year to help combat climate change.
