Indian Police Athletics Cluster Championship (Athletics & Cycling)-2024-2025 concluded

The 73rd All India Police Athletics Cluster Championship (Athletics & Cycling)-2024-2025 concluded today with a grand closing ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking the successful and competitive culmination of this prestigious event. Organised by Delhi Police, this year’s championship saw over 38 teams from various State/UT Police Departments and CAPFs from across the country participating in a wide range of track and field events.

Eminent dignitaries were present at the closing ceremony. Tapan Kumar Deka, Director/Intelligence Bureau was the Chief Guest. Ms Mirabai Chanu was the Guest of Honour, who appreciated the remarkable spirit, discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the participants throughout the event. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and senior officers were also present at the event. The final day witnessed encouraging performances, with several athletes breaking personal records and achieving new milestones in their respective events.

In keeping with the tradition of the event, a special Barakhana (community feast) was organized at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for all the participants, officials, and guests, to promote camaraderie and celebrate the successful completion of the championship and provide an opportunity for the athletes, officials, and visitors to share a meal together and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation.

The 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship not only served as a platform to showcase athletic talent, but also reinforced the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline among the police force. It was a proud moment for all involved, and the Organizing Committee expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors for making the event a grand success.

1. Race: 10,000 Meters (Men):. Prince Kumar of Uttar Pradesh Police created a new record in the 10,000 Meters race in a record time of 29:03 minutes. He broke the previous record of 29:30 minutes set by Rajesh Kumar from Uttarakhand Police in the year 2023.

2. Race: 5,000 Meters (Men):- Prince Kumar from Uttar Pradesh Police created a new record in 5,000 Meters race in record time 13:58 minutes. He broke the previous record (46 years old) of 14:08 minutes set by Hari Chand from CRPF in the year 1978.

3. 100 Meters Women Race:- Ms. Vijaya Kumari of CISF created a new record in 100 Meters race in record time 11:78 seconds. She broke the previous record of 11:85 seconds set by Ms. Sindhu VT of CRPF in the year 2008.

4. Pole Vault (Women):- Ms. KM Babita Patel of CISF created a new record in Pole Vault Jump by jumping 3.75 meters and Ms. Reshma Ravindran of Kerala Police created a new record in the same event by jumping 3.60 meters. She broke the previous record of 3.60 meters jump set by Ms. Sangeeta Kumari of CISF in the year 2018.

5. Pole Vault (Men):- Shekhar Kumar Pandey of CISF created a new record in Pole Vault Jump by jumping 5 meters and he broke the previous record of 4.91 meters jump set by Vignesh from Tamil Nadu Police in the year 2020.

6. Hammer Throw (Women):- Ms. Anmol Kaur, Punjab Police created a new record in Hammer Throw by throwing 58.71 meters. She broke the previous record of 57.52 meters set by Ms. Manpreet Kaur of CISF in the year 2023.

7. Javelin Throw (Men):- On the third day, Sachin Yadav of UP Police created a new record by throwing 82.36 meters in javelin. He broke the previous record (30 years old) of 79.68 meters set in 1994 by Ms. Satbir Singh of Punjab Police.

8. Javelin Throw (Men):- On the fourth day, Sachin Yadav of UP Police created a new record in javelin throw by throwing 84.21 meters and broke his own previous record of the current meet i.e. 82.36 meters.

9. 4X100 Meter Relay Run (Men):- Saurav Saha, Jishnu Prasad, V. Saseendran and Ranesh of BSF created a new record in 4X100 meter relay run in record time of 40.75 seconds. They broke the previous record of 50.86 set by BSF team in 2005.

10. High Jump (Female):- Ms. Athira Somar of Kerala Police created a new record in high jump i.e. 1.77 meters. She broke the previous record of CRPF team of 1.76 meters set in the year 1999 (25 years old).

11. Long Jump (Female):- Ms. Rimpi Borgohain of Assam Rifles created a new record in long jump i.e. 6.34 meters. She broke the previous record of Ms. Marina George of Kerala Police of 6.23 meters set in the year 2023.

12. 200 MTR RACE (MEN):- Jishnu Prasad of BSF created a new record in 200 meter race in record time 21.09 seconds. He broke the previous record of Mr. Harjeet Singh, Punjab, 21.10 seconds set in the year 1993.

13. 400m Hurdles (Men):- Arjun K of Kerala created a new record in 400m hurdles in record time of 52.25 seconds. He broke the previous record of 52.42 seconds set by Joseph G Abraham, CRPF, in the year 2005.
