In the sacred memory of Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra, former President of Delhi Jan Sangh and BJP, and former Chief Executive Councillor of Delhi, a tribute meeting was held today at the Civic Centre under the leadership of Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva. A large number of BJP leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the late leader.

Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, RSS Delhi Prant Pracharak Dr. Anil Agarwal, BJP National General Secretary Shri Arun Singh, Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, and Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta addressed the tribute meeting chaired by Shri Virendra Sachdeva, and offered their heartfelt respects to Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

Among the attendees at the tribute gathering were:
Union Minister of State Shri Harsh Malhotra, BJP National Office Secretary Shri Mahendra Pandey, MP Shri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Shri Yogendra Chandolia, Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, BJP Delhi Organization General Secretary Shri Pawan Rana, State General Secretary Shri Vishnu Mittal, Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, Former Delhi BJP President Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Shri Satish Upadhyay, and Shali, along with several other senior BJP leaders, state core team members, heads of various party departments and cells, as well as many members of the Malhotra family.

The meeting was conducted by Shri Rajiv Babbar.

At the end of the ceremony, Professor Malhotra’s son, Shri Ajay Malhotra, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone.

Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar said that it feels deeply painful when we refer to someone with the prefix “late”. Malhotra Ji’s vast political experience and his deep understanding of politics bear witness to the fact that he gave a new direction to the BJP — not only in Delhi but across the entire country.
He recalled, “I remember when Jammu and Kashmir was granted special status, we were not in agreement with it. During that time, Malhotra Ji actively worked to organize the party in Delhi around this issue.”

Shri Manohar Lal Khattar further said that Malhotra Ji inspired many — not just in the RSS, Jan Sangh, and BJP, but also through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and even in the field of sports.
“I was fortunate to have interacted with him. The last time I met him at ‘Sadaiv Atal’, he spoke at length about his experiences in the central government. He was extremely knowledgeable in mathematics. In fact, if one wished to discuss any aspect of life, he was among those rare personalities who had wisdom in every area.”

“On behalf of the Central Government, I offer my tribute to him.”

RSS Prant Pracharak Dr. Anil Agarwal remembered Dr. Malhotra and said that his passing is not just a loss for his family, but an irreparable loss for society.
“He was a symbol of simplicity, honesty, and a spirit of service. He always stood with everyone in their joys and sorrows. His natural demeanor, soft-spoken nature, and simplicity brought him close to people’s hearts.”

Dr. Anil Agarwal shared that during the time of India’s independence, Malhotra Ji was attending a camp, when he was asked to go to Lahore and take responsibility for arranging food and shelter for the displaced Hindus.
As a dedicated RSS worker, he fulfilled several important responsibilities with commitment.

“On behalf of Delhi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, I pay tribute to his remarkable journey.”

Shri Virendra Sachdeva said that the values of discipline, patience, and restraint are something one must learn from Malhotra Ji, and equally important is the ability to stand firmly by one’s words, which he exemplified throughout his life.
“Every person becomes great through their work. The amount of respect Malhotra Ji received from opposition leaders is rarely seen for others. To earn the respect of even one’s political opponents and to make them acknowledge your convictions — that is something to learn from Malhotra Ji.”

He further shared, “I came to know him closely when he contested the 1980 elections, and I was assigned media responsibilities for his campaign. Working 16–18 hours a day with him was the most fortunate and valuable period of my life. Today, it feels as if a protective presence over me has been lost.”

Shri Sachdeva also said that Malhotra Ji had the honor of introducing archery in India and worked to not only promote the sport in the country but also to establish it across Asia.

He added, “Just a few days ago, when I met him along with our National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, the smile on his face clearly showed how pleased he was with the current state of BJP’s organization.”

Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said, “This is not a mourning gathering, but a gathering of inspiration, dedicated to that dynamic leader who not only inspired thousands of workers like me but also helped them grow and move forward. He used to personally appreciate every worker for their contributions. I too had the privilege of receiving a congratulatory call from him when I was elected as a municipal councillor.”

She further said, “Today, if you examine the foundation of any developmental work in Delhi, you’ll find Malhotra Ji’s name associated with it. He laid the foundation of BJP in Delhi, and it is because of his relentless efforts that the party is in power today. If he were still active in politics, perhaps we wouldn’t have had to struggle as much as we did.”

BJP National General Secretary Shri Arun Singh said, “Respected Vijay Kumar Malhotra Ji is no longer with us, but his simplicity, humility, and ideals will always remain a source of inspiration for us.”

He added, As the Chairman of the Atal Smriti Nyas, I used to meet him frequently. He would always ask for detailed updates about programs and would also offer thoughtful suggestions.”
