Rashtrapati Bhavan and DDA teams came on the field to raise awareness towards environmental protection
New Delhi: In the tenth edition of Yamuna Trophy, a match was organized between Rashtrapati Bhavan and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) XI as a unique initiative towards environmental protection. This match was played in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the toss of which was done by Harita Gupta, President of Lok Kalyan Samiti. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness in the society towards environmental protection and educate people on important issues like cleanliness, tree plantation, water conservation.
Rashtrapati Bhavan XI captain Ganesh won the toss and decided to field first. DDA team batted first and scored 142 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. In response, Rashtrapati Bhavan team could only score 183 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
On this occasion, Harita Gupta said, environment is our biggest heritage, and it is our responsibility to protect it. We have to take small steps so that the coming generations can get a clean and safe environment. He appealed to everyone to cut down on the use of plastic, plant trees and save water.
Captain Ganesh of Rashtrapati Bhavan XI also praised the effort and said, "This campaign is an important beginning. Our aim is that every citizen should understand the responsibility of environmental protection and make it a part of their life. More such programs will be organized in the future.
This initiative also received a lot of support from the local society and youth, which will inspire a positive attitude towards environmental protection and bring about a change in the society.
