Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society (MATES), affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, marked its Silver Jubilee in a grand event held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on November 10. Honorable Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, attended as the chief guest, underscoring the critical role of MATES in India’s educational and economic landscape.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Vice President Dhankhar emphasized the significance of "economic nationalism" and urged for the reduction of unnecessary imports to bolster local industries. He remarked on the vital contributions of those in trade, business, commerce, and industry, advocating that they should feel valued within society, as they are the wealth creators and contributors to social harmony.
"Respect for those driving the economy is essential," stated the Vice President, "and social harmony remains our civilization’s core value. It is the foundation for a prosperous society." His address underscored the importance of listening to diverse opinions and fostering tolerance, promoting social harmony as an "ornament" of Indian society.
Dr. Nand Kishore Garg, Founder Chairman of MATES, reflected on the institution’s transformative 25-year journey and announced ambitious plans to expand with nursing, paramedical, and medical colleges, aiming to contribute even further to society. "Our commitment to ‘Nation First’ has is shaping over 11,000 students every year across our institutions, ensuring their competence and character," shared Dr. Garg.
The event also welcomed Padma Shri awardee Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, who honored MATES as a distinguished founding institution of the university. "Maharaja Agrasen Institute is a beacon of pride for our university and a vital force in its Silver Jubilee celebrations," he noted.
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, in his keynote during the second session, acknowledged the institute’s role in nation-building, producing graduates who are actively contributing to India’s development.
The event was orchestrated by Program Coordinator Dr. Subodh Jindal, along with TR Garg, Anand Gupta, Gyan Agarwal, Rajneesh Gupta, Jagdish Mittal, SP Goyal, Nand Kishore Aggarwal, Mohan Garg, Gyanendra Srivastava, Prof. Neelam Sharma, Prof. Rajni Malhotra Dhingra, Prof. SS Deswal, and Jairam Mani Tripathi, ensuring its resounding success.
