Unit 'Parivartan' of Mata Sundri College for Women Organises Road Safety Awareness Session

The NSS Unit 'Parivartan' of Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi, organised a Road Safety Awareness Session on the college campus under the supervision of Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Principal, Mata Sundri College for Women, to promote responsible road behaviour and enhance awareness about traffic safety among students.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Avneet Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, and Dr. Harvinder Kaur, NSS Member, who played an active role in planning and coordinating the event.
The primary objective of the session was to educate students about responsible road behaviour, traffic regulations, and the importance of road safety. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students, and faculty members.
The distinguished resource persons from Delhi Traffic Police included Sub-Inspector Kulbhushan (Traffic In-Charge), ASI Rajni Sharma, and Constable Manvika. The officers delivered informative and interactive sessions on traffic rules, road signs, pedestrian safety, safe driving practices, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, and the legal consequences of violating traffic regulations. Through real-life examples and practical demonstrations, they encouraged students to become responsible road users and ambassadors of road safety in society.
The event was efficiently coordinated by the student leadership under the guidance of the faculty. Ms. Palak Gangwar, NSS President, and Ms. Vidita, NSS Vice-President, ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Avneet Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, emphasised that road safety is a shared responsibility and highlighted the vital role of youth in promoting a culture of discipline, responsibility, and adherence to traffic rules. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Mr. Vijay Gaur, Chairperson of Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti, for his valuable guidance and support in coordinating the programme.
Dr. Harvinder Kaur, NSS Member, appreciated the active participation of the students and encouraged them to spread awareness about road safety among their families, friends, and the wider community.
The programme was also addressed by Mr. Vijay Bhardwaj, former Delhi University NSS Student Leader, who shared a real-life case highlighting the importance of wearing seat belts. He explained how negligence in not wearing a seat belt during a road accident created complications in processing the insurance claim, thereby reinforcing the need to comply with traffic safety regulations.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks to the officers of the Delhi Traffic Police for sharing their valuable knowledge and for their dedicated efforts towards educating young citizens. The programme reflected the commitment of the NSS Unit 'Parivartan' of Mata Sundri College for Women to promoting community service, civic responsibility, and road safety awareness among students.
