Horticultural crops farmers can increase their income.

        Four-day Kisan Mela cum Seminar concluded, about one thousand farmers took advantage of the Kisan Mela, free spray pumps, seeds and medicines were given to all the farmers who came to the fair.

16 October 2024 - Farmers can become self-reliant and prosperous by taking advantage of horticulture schemes. The National Horticulture Board provides subsidy up to 40 percent of the cost for industrial units related to horticulture. The office of the National Horticulture Board is established in Gwalior. The farmers of the district should come forward to take advantage of the schemes of the Horticulture Board. MP Shri Bharat Singh Kushwaha said this while addressing the farmers present in the closing program of the four-day Kisan Mela cum Seminar. On this occasion, under the schemes of the Horticulture Department, he handed over free kits and medicines of seeds of spice crops like tomato, coriander and chilli along with spray pumps to the farmers. The program was presided over by District Panchayat President Smt. Durgesh Kunwar Singh Jatav.

         A four-day Kisan Mela cum Seminar was organized at the Government Nursery situated at Mela Road under Integrated Horticulture Development Mission and Plant Production Scheme. About one thousand farmers of the district were benefited through this Kisan Mela. On the last day of the fair, about 189 farmers of Janpad Panchayat Murar participated in the fair.

         MP Shri Kushwaha said that the government believes that if the farmer is prosperous then the country will also be prosperous. With this feeling, the Central and State Government are promoting horticultural crops to increase the income of farmers. For this purpose, the regional office of the National Horticulture Board has been established in Gwalior. Also, a hi-tech nursery is going to be built in about 70 bigha area in Khurrai at a cost of Rs 13 crore. An Excellence Center has been built in Noorabad at a cost of about Rs 10 crore, in which farmers can learn the nuances of advanced farming. On this occasion, he called upon the farmers to take a pledge that they will adopt horticulture by taking advantage of the government's subsidy schemes.

         District Panchayat President Mrs. Durgesh Jatav said that farmers should not depend only on traditional farming but should also do multi-cropping and horticultural farming. She said that she herself is cultivating dragon fruit, fenugreek, celery, turmeric, figs and guava in her village Mughalpura, which is giving good profits. Along with this, the family income has also increased.

         Senior Agricultural Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mr. Shailendra Singh Kushwaha and National Horticulture Board Officer Mr. Anil Tomar explained the nuances of advanced farming. Along with this, information was given about the schemes run by the government through the Horticulture Department. On this occasion, Joint Director Horticulture Mr. Brijendra Singh Bhadauria was present on the stage.

         Assistant Director Horticulture Mr. MPS Bundela gave the welcome address. Along with this, useful information was given about taking horticultural crops. He told that about one thousand farmers of the district have been benefited through the Kisan Mela cum Seminar started from 13 October. About 248 farmers of Ghatigaon development block participated on the first day of the fair. On the second day, i.e. on 14th October, 142 farmers from Bhitarwar block of the district and on the third day, i.e. on 15th October, 201 farmers from Dabra block participated in the fair. On the fourth and last day of the fair, i.e. on 16th October, 189 farmers from Murar block were benefited.

       In the fair the Horticulture Department distributed free battery operated spray pumps and improved seeds and medicines of chilli, tomato, coriander and other spice crops to the farmers. Along with this, senior scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra explained the nuances of advanced farming to the farmers in various training sessions.

Also took stock of the government nursery.

        After participating in the Kisan Mela, MP Shri Bharat Singh Kushwaha also took stock of the government nursery. He has appreciated the efforts made to improve the nursery.
