Government Medical College, Datia, Grandly Inaugurated CPR Awareness Week

Government Medical College, Datia, is organizing "CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Awareness Week" from October 13, 2025, to October 17, 2025. This week-long program began today on the college campus. The objective of the program is to educate and train the public, medical students, and staff on life-saving techniques like CPR so they can respond effectively in emergency situations.

Senior Physicians and Experts Present at the Inaugural Ceremony

The program was presided over by Dr. Bharat Verma (Head of Department, Anesthesia). Senior physicians from several departments were present, including:

Dr. Tagore – Head of Department, Medicine

Dr. Bharti – Head of Department, TB & Chest

Dr. K.N. Arya – Head of Department, Surgery

Dr. Ravneet Singh – Associate Professor, Anesthesia

Dr. Divya Gautam – Assistant Professor, Anesthesia

Dr. Umesh Patel – Assistant Professor, Anesthesia

Dr. Samarth – Senior Resident

Dr. Ayushi – Resident Doctor

In addition, a large number of PG students from the Department of Anesthesia attended the training process and played an active role.

Enthusiastic participation in hands-on training

On the first day of the program, approximately 100 participants received practical (hands-on) CPR training. This training, conducted using a manikin (an artificial human model), taught participants how to save lives by administering chest compressions and artificial respiration in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

The training also included information on how to notify emergency services, how to safely administer first aid, and when it is essential to initiate CPR.

Speakers highlighted the importance of CPR.

Dr. Bharat Verma, in his address, said,

"CPR is a basic technique that, if learned by the public, can save hundreds of lives. The purpose of this awareness week is not limited to medical students, but to educate every member of society about life-saving measures."
